Y/N's POV
I quickly strode through the castle, the aftermath of the battle weighing heavily on me. Where is he? I wondered. Where is my husband?  We had agreed beforehand to find each other as soon as the battle was over, but he wasn't at our planned meeting place. I tried not to think the worst.
I soon ran into Harry Potter, who was staring at the dead with a forlorn look. I approached him quickly, not noticing how he paled slightly upon seeing me.
"Have you seen my husband?" I asked him hopefully, and slightly out of breath.
Harry sighed, not meeting my eyes. He reached into his jacket, and pulled something out. I felt confused as he pressed a cold object into my hand. I looked down, and my heart stopped. There, in my hand, was a ring. A wedding ring. The same ring that I put on my husband's finger the day we got married. That's when I knew. He was dead, and was never coming home.
I staggered back, my back pressed against the wall for support. Harry looked at me sadly.
"You were the last thing that he thought of, you know," he said softly. "He loved you very much." I could barely hear him though, over the breaking of my heart. I had planned on telling him, but now he would never know...
Harry gave me a hug, and then made to leave me to my grief.
"Wait!" I cried out suddenly.
Harry quickly turned to me. I swallowed hard.
"Where is he?"
Harry hesitated but replied,
"He's in the boathouse."
I didn't wait to hear any more, and ran out of the castle. It didn't take long to find him. He was slumped up against the wall, his eyes closed. He was covered in blood, especially by his neck.
I let out a sharp keen as I all but collapsed next to him, next to my darling Severus. I don't know how long I sat there, sobbing.
But the thought that he would never know about a certain tiny miracle made my heart break. I placed a hand on my abdomen. The poor child would never know their father, who would have loved them so much.
Severus and I had always wanted kids, but we both knew better than to have one during the war. I myself had only known of my pregnancy for a couple of weeks, and I never had the chance to tell him, as he had insisted that I go into hiding a couple of months ago.
Now, I wished that I knew before I was forced to leave him so that I could tell him. Soon, my tears settled a little, and I bent down, kissing those soft lips that would never again kiss me back.
"Goodbye, my love," I whispered.
I ended up taking his body home with me, and buried him at our favorite getaway, a beautiful meadow a few leagues from London. We were the only ones that knew about it, and we went there whenever things got too stressful. We even built a little cabin there not long after we found it. It was our safe haven.
After the battle, the only thing that was keeping me going was the tiny life inside of me. I knew that I had to stay strong for my child. Our child.
***time skip six months***
This was one of the times that I really wished that Severus was here with me, if only so that I could break his hand while his child was squeezing itself out of me. Childbirth was no fun, I'll tell you that.
As it was, Minerva was the only one keeping me company. Finally, after what seemed like days, a tiny cry was heard. I immediately fell in love with the child who made that cry.
"Congratulations," the nurse smiled. "You have a healthy baby girl."
My eyes filled with tears as I was finally handed a pink bundle, and I stared into a tiny face. Her eyes were closed for a moment, but when they opened I let out a gasp. They were a very dark brown, almost black, just like his...I saw that she had his dark hair as well. She also had my nose and forehead, but his cheekbones. Overall, she was beautiful.
"She's beautiful, Y/N, " Minerva said softly, carrying a sad smile. "He would had loved her."
I sniffled a little at the thought. "I know."
The doctor returned at that moment.
"Have you chosen a name?" he asked me.
I nodded. "Her name is Elizabeth Lily Snape."
The doctor smiled.
"Perfect. I will add that to her birth certificate. You two will be able to go home tomorrow, but you need to get some rest for now."
I reluctantly handed my daughter over, and sighed, laying back against the pillow. Minerva patted my arm.
"I am afraid that I need to return to Hogwarts. Will you be alright here, or should I send for someone to stay?" she asked me.
I shook my head.
"I'll be fine, Minerva, but thank you."
She looked like she wanted to protest, but she just patted my arm again, and took her leave. I shifted so that I was lying down, and drifted off.
I was suddenly standing in a familiar meadow. The weather was perfect. A slight breeze was a nice contrast to the heat of summer. I closed my eyes, letting the breeze blow in my hair. Suddenly, I heard a voice calling my name.
"Come now, Y/N. Are you just going to stand there?'" a familiar, sarcastic voice droned out. My eyes flew open and I whirled around. Standing behind me, a trademark smirk on his face, was my husband.
"Severus!" I cried out, throwing my arms around him, sobbing.
I felt him immediately hug me back.
"I missed you so much," I sobbed out.
Severus only held me tighter at my words, but then he gently pushed me back so that he could look me in the eyes. He placed a loving hand on my cheek and said,
"I do not have much time with you, but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am that I haven't been there for you these past few months," he said softly.
I put my arms around his neck, and nuzzled his large nose.
"I had good motivation to keep going," I replied. I looked at him and sighed.
"I had meant to tell you after the battle, Severus, but I was pregnant, and I just gave birth to our daughter a few hours ago."
He smiled at me.
"I know. I have been watching you. She is so beautiful, darling. Just like you."
He kissed my nose lovingly.
He suddenly frowned.
"I'm afraid that my time is up, darling." he said sadly.
I frowned.
"What do you mean."
He pressed his forehead to mine, still stroking my cheek.
"Darling, I want you to promise me something."
"Anything" was my immediate answer.
He sighed.
"I want you to promise to never give up on love. If you find someone, I do not want you to hold back on my account. And also, make sure that our daughter knows that her father loves her very much."
I frowned.
"You want me to forget you? To love another man? Severus, there is no man that could compare to you!"
Severus silenced me with a quick kiss to the lips. "Just promise me that you will try?" he pleaded. I sighed.
"Very well. For you."
He smiled at me.
"Goodbye, my love" he whispered, and kissed me one more time.
I kissed him back as everything around me faded...

I bolted upright suddenly, and was surprised to see a crowd of worried-looking doctors around me, who immediately looked relieved when I woke up. I tried to figure out what the problem was as they bustled around me, checking who-knows-what. Finally, I had had enough.
"SHUT UP AND TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON!!" I yelled.
Everyone in the room froze. The doctor sighed and said,
"You had some sort of stroke in your sleep. We almost lost you. You were actually dead for around five minutes."
I was shocked. I was dead? But how? Then, the dream that I had was suddenly rushing back to me. Severus. Was that really him? Was he able to see me because I had been dead? I didn't say another word as the doctors continued to check me over.
I was safely released from the hospital the next day, still confused about my dream and the strange stroke. The doctors never found a cause for it, and didn't know how I could have woken up either. But that just confirmed to me that Severus must have done something.
I was thankful that Harry had offered to pick me up and drive me home, as I was in no state to do so myself. He helped me get inside, carrying everything that wasn't Elizabeth.  He offered to stay and help with anything that I needed, but I told him that I would be fine.
As I put my daughter to bed that night, I whispered to her,
"Goodnight my angel. And remember that daddy loves you, and will always watch over you."
***time skip 11 years***

"MOOOOOM!!!" A loud squeal jerked me out of my sleep.
"Yes, darling?" I said groggily.
I felt the weight of my now-eleven-year-old daughter as she jumped on the bed.
"My Hogwarts letter finally came!!" she yelled in my ear.
I opened my eyes and took a moment to study Elizabeth. She had grown into a beautiful child, with long straight black hair, olive skin like mine, and eyes darker than ever. Whenever she smiled she looked just like me, but whenever she scowled or smirked she looked almost eerily like her father.
And right now, said child was bouncing and waving a familiar letter around, looking like Christmas had come early. I smiled at the sight.
"That's amazing dear! Now, how about I make you a deal?" I asked her.
"What is it, mom?" she asked me eagerly.
"How about you go get ready for the day, and I'll take you to Diagon Alley to get your supplies today after lunch?" I proposed.
She immediately squealed, and jumped on top of me.
"Yes! Yes yes yes!" I smiled at her.
"You know, your father would be so proud of you." I whispered.
She sobered a bit at the mention of her father.
"I miss him so much, " she sighed.
I hugged her to me. I had done my best to keep my promise to Severus, and made sure that she knew that he loved her very much. I had, however, never remarried.
"So do I, angel. So do I."
I kissed her forehead.
"Why don't you get dressed, and I'll make breakfast, sound good?"
She nodded and hugged me again.
And then, just like that, she was suddenly running out the bedroom door yelling,
"You're the best, Mom!"
I smiled.
You would love her so much, Severus. How I wish that you were here...

So, there we have it! I hope y'all enjoy this!!
