School was finally over. It was colder than this morning and you wished you had brought a coat. You began to walk to your sisters school to pick her up when you hear a car pull up behind you. You turn around, confused, to see Ms Paulson sitting in her car looking at you. "It's freezing let me give you a ride." You wanted to accept her offer so badly but you knew you couldn't, your dad would be so mad that people offered me charity all because he can't just be a good father. "No thanks." I replied and smiled then continued to walk. She pulled over and got out of her car. "It's way to cold for you to be walking. I'm giving you a ride." She says sternly. You turn around and roll your eyes. "Fine." You give in and give her directions to your sisters school.
During the ride you examine her features as she drives. She looks over at you and smiles. Her smile quickly fades to concern as she looks at you. "Darling what happened to your face." She says with a slight frown. Shit she noticed my cheek. You pull your hoodie further over your head and smile. "Oh it's nothing. I just fell. I'm such a clutz." You chuckle but she doesn't laugh with you. You can tell she doesn't believe you. Thankfully your sisters. school was only a few blocks from yours. It was too late to ask anymore questions, you had arrived at Rosy's school. "Thanks so much for the ride!" You thank Ms Paulson. You were gonna walk your sister the rest of the way so your dad wouldn't see you had gotten a ride. As you're exiting the car you feel her grab your arm. You look over and your cuts are showing. She sees you look down at them with your eyes wide. "What happened here?" She asks, but she already knows. You pull away and walk away quickly. You pick up your sister and walk her home as she tells you about her first day.
