My Life Changed Because Of You

Chapter 2

I later came to know that Akashi-kun was one of the most popular students and a major sensation at the institution since my classmates in my classes always talk about how amazing he is. Akashi-Kun was every student's dream, he works at the student council as the president of the Teiko High School. He was charming, intelligent, athletic, and most of all likable. Being one of the top scorers in the school basketball team, Akashi-Kun would send the crowds into excitement any time he made points for the team. It's like his abilities humbled him.

I, on the other hand, people barely notice me whenever I attend classes the first time. It's like nobody even bothered to make friends with me or talk to me. Maybe I'm just playing the invisible game or maybe I'm still shy to talk to people. It's not the same as making friends with Ogiwara-Kun, my childhood friend. He's my first and only friend that I have, I really miss him. I should have gone to the same school as him but his school is so far from where I live. We still write each other letters, send text messages, we even call each other during the weekends when we're not busy.

My classes were over. I walked to the hallways and I always see cliques or school clubs gathering around. I don't know which club to attend or want to be part of. I see that most people put up flyers or signs. I see students gathering to sign up for clubs. I was thinking if those clubs were really that popular in school, then maybe it could help me make new friends. I looked at the signs of the clubs. I looked at the mainstream media club run by some guy with blonde hair, I don't know his name but I saw girls fangirling around him, maybe he's popular too. Then I looked at the science club run by some guy with green hair and wears glasses, the health committee club run by two people are some guy with dark blue hair and tanned skin, and the girl with long pink hair. There's the bakery club run by a really tall guy with long purple hair, and the student council club that is run by Akashi-Kun, the same guy that helped me pick up my books and find my class. I walked to the double doors and I see more clubs in school sending out flyers to new students. I didn't even bother to take any flyers or anything because I wanted to focus on who I am first.

After a few minutes of students signing up for clubs, I sat at the bench outside the school building while waiting for my mom to pick me up. I opened my backpack, took out one of the books that I borrowed from the library, and started reading. While I was reading I heard other students screaming for excitement. I stopped reading and looked at them gathering around Akashi-Kun. He's with some friend with black hair named Mibuchi-Kun I believe. Everyone knows and talks about them because they're the most popular students in Teiko High School.

One of the students: Akashi-Sama and Mibuchi-chan make a cute couple! School President and Vice President is the perfect match!"

Mibuchi: Thanks, guys, you know Sei-chan and I work as a team and that's how we get together!

Mibuchi-Kun chuckled as he clings to Akashi-Kun.

Akashi: We got to get going, our friends are waiting for us at the student council room for our after-school meeting.

Akashi smiled and he walked back inside the school building with Mibuchi-Kun. I kept staring at Akashi-Kun as he walked back inside. I blushed and looked away because he was so handsome and he seems like a really nice guy. Too bad that Akashi-Kun is taken by Mibuchi-Kun, I think but I'm not sure if they're actually dating, or maybe they're just close friends that work together. I went back to reading my book while waiting for my mom to pick me up. I heard the honking of the car, I stopped reading and saw that it was my mom waiting for me in the car.

My mom: Tetsuya sweety, let's go.

My mother smiled as she parked at the side of the walkway where vehicles usually park.

Me: Coming mother.

I put my book back inside my backpack and zippered my backpack. I walked inside her car, I sat down, closed the door, and wore my seatbelt.

My mom: So sweety, how was school?

My mother asked while driving back home.

Me: It was okay, every time I walked to the hallways, the people barely notice me which kinda made me upset a bit but-

I paused for a bit when I started thinking about Akashi-Kun.

Me: There's this guy who was a bit taller than me who helped me find the rooms of one of my classes.

I started smiling because talking about him makes me happy.

My mom: Oh, so you did make a new friend. What's his name?"

I don't really consider Akashi-Kun as a new friend because we just met and we don't really have classes together.

Me: Oh his name is Akashi-Kun, but we don't have classes together, he just helped me.

My mom: Ah it's okay sweety, once you meet this boy again in the hallways if ever, you can befriend him and that's a good start.

She parked at our driveway and we got out of our car.  My grandmother pets Niguo-Kun on her lap while she was watching tv. Niguo-Kun saw my mother and I walked in and he barked cheerfully.

Me: Niguo-Kun, are you a good boy today? Do you miss me?

I smiled and held him in my arms gently. Niguo-Kun licks my cheek while I petted him.

My grandma: He misses you so much when you were in school, I fed him already. I'll cook dinner now.

She smiled as she got up and walked to the kitchen to cook dinner. I went to my room with Nigou-Kun. I'm glad that we don't have to go through financial problems ever again. My father almost got laid off on his previous job until the boss changed his mind and promoted him to a higher position. I'm glad most of our debts are paid off.  I put Niguo-Kun on his own bed with his toys then I sat at my desk and started doing homework. I'm glad my teachers didn't give me a lot of homework on the first day. While I was doing homework I think about Akashi-Kun again. Maybe I can have the chance again to talk to him but no... that will be really silly to walk up to him randomly and even in front of his group of friends.
