A few hours have passed and it was lunchtime already. I head to the library to do homework and return the books.  As I walked to the door, I saw a sign that said 'sorry the library is closed for technology repairments' and sighed a bit. I don't have anybody to sit with, I can't just enter the cafeteria and randomly find a place to sit alone. So my only option was to go to one of my best teacher's classrooms and hang out there.

I walked to the room of my Japanese literature class and knocked on the door. My teacher opened it and smiled.

Teacher: Ah, Kuroko Tetsuya, what brings you here?

She asked as she let me in the room. I looked at her while I put my stuff down on the desk.

Me: Um sensei, is it alright if I hang out here? because the library is closed and I have no one to sit with at lunch."

Teacher: Um sure, that will be fine.

She walked to her desk and do some paperwork while I sat down and take out my homework assignments for me to finish.

Teacher: If you need anything you can just call me. I know you're still a new student in this school but are you having trouble making friends is that why?

She then looked at him with a concerned look. I looked at her and nodded slowly. I didn't want the teacher to feel bad and I didn't want to be a bother to her. Although I'm still not brave enough to enter the cafeteria and have people stare at me.

Teacher: Ah it's okay sweety, I was like that when I was your age. But then, I joined a club that caught my interest and I made friends there. I think you will make new friends when you join any club you like.

Then she opened her desk drawer and she took out one flyer.

Teacher: This is the flyer of the community service club.

She showed it and I take a look at it and I got interested right away.

Teacher: I know this club is not one of the popular clubs in school but it's a non-profit group. This will help you make friends and the members of the groups are nice. I'm the advisor of this club as well, the group leaders are Riko and Hyuga, they are nice people and they are in their second year in this school. They'll be happy to recruit new students to the club.

I nodded and smiled while I looked at the flyer. The community service club is interesting because you get to help a lot of people and do volunteer work in different places outside of school. I like doing volunteer work because I volunteered at my grandma's kindergarten school before she retired, it was a great experience and the children were so happy when I'm here. She handed me the sign-up sheet and I signed my name there.

Then I started thinking about this basketball club that Akashi-kun suggested I join.

Me: Um sensei, quick question. Will it mess up the other club dates like the basketball club?

I asked her because I wanted to know if the two clubs will not have a conflict of the schedule.

Teacher: Not, some people in the community service club also join the basketball club as well.

She smiled as she sipped on her coffee.

Teacher: So what made you interested in joining basketball?

Me: Oh um there is this boy named Akashi-kun, he gave me this flyer to join the basketball club, his team is recruiting new members as well.

I answered while I took out the basketball club flyer and showed it to her.

Teacher: Akashi Seijuro? he's a wonderfully gifted and most intelligent student! He's one of my honors classes and it's such a pleasure to teach him. He is so respectful and he's the president of the school even though he's the same year as you."

She said cheerfully while she take a look at the basketball club flyer.

Teacher: So do you think of joining the team?"

Me: Well I don't know... I'm not good at basketball because I can barely shoot hoops. Even if I tried I still won't be able to make it through the hoop. But, I think I should join just to make new friends there as well.

I looked down for a bit. I didn't want to tell her that I wanted to join just because I have a crush on Akashi-kun, it will be awkward to tell a teacher that.

Teacher: It's okay, it's not about shooting hoops, as long as you help your teammates and work together, then people will respect you more."

Me: I hope so sensei, I'll try to say hello at least that's what my mom would say if I'm trying to make friends.

The bell rang and it was time for my next class.

Teacher: Oh Kuroko don't forget to finish your book report on your choice of book you reading and it's due next week.

My teacher reminded me about the assignment. I already got started last night because I love to read books and write reports on them. Reading and writing are like my habit of doing stuff productively at home, it's like an alternative to watching tv and playing video games.

Me: Thanks sensei and thanks sensei for having me here during lunch period, I'll see you tomorrow.

I got my things and bowed to my sensei then I walked to the next class. While I was walking to my next class, I see a lot of students signing up for the basketball club at the sign-up sheet attached to the bulletin board. I hope there's more room for me to sign. As I waited for each student to finish signing their names, I walked up to the sign-up sheet, and luckily I found one more line for me to put my name. I signed my name on the last line and then I walked away and head inside my classroom. I sat in the back row and waited for the teacher to show up. I hear the students getting too excited to join the basketball club as well.  I thought to myself that the basketball club is that big and popular in this school, but I'm not popular and I'm afraid to show my face in front of thousands of people that I barely know.

Signing up for the basketball team was the bravest thing I did but I don't want to put high hopes on yet. What if I'm not accepted to be on the basketball team because I can't even shoot a single hoop? then I won't be able to talk to Akashi-kun or be close to him ever again, it will make me worried and upset. But I wasn't ready to give up, I think I should practice more to be better.
