A few minutes later, my family and I were at the dinner table waiting for my father to come back home from work. I was staring at the udon soup that my grandmother cooked for us to eat then I looked at the vanilla tea that my grandmother also made me. She knows I love vanilla flavor drinks except for Cola which I can't have. Niguo-Kun was on the floor beside me playing with his mini basketball toy.
My mom: I can't wait to hear good news about his work!
My mother helped pour tea on our teacups. My dad entered the house with a bright smile on his face. I'm assuming everything went well in his work and there was no problem at all.
My dad: Hello, guys I'm home.
My father walked to the dinner table and kissed my mom.
My mom: Oh honey welcome home!
My mom kissed him back while she pulls up a chair for my dad to sit.
My grandma: Let's eat! The food is getting cold!
My grandmother said as she passed the food around the table. We started having dinner together while my father talked about his work. When he talked about how well he was doing on his job, it made me happy. I remember a few months my dad talked about having a bad workday, it always makes me worried and sad but I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. My dad smiled at me and I smiled back at him while I was eating a bit of my udon soup.
My dad: So how was school going for you? Did you make any new friends yet?
My father asked me while he was drinking his tea. I shook my head a bit because the question made me feel awkward a bit.
My mom: What about this boy you met at the hallways that you talked about in the car? he's your new friend, right?
Me: Well he's not my new friend yet or I don't know. He just helped me and we don't have any classes together. I didn't make any friends I'm sorry.
I answered her but then I looked down feeling upset.
My grandma: Hey don't feel sad you will make new friends, just say 'hello' and people will notice you.
My grandmother said while she was rubbing my back. She cheered me up and I nodded and smiled.
My mom: You're grandmother is right, it's the key to having communication and making friends.
My dad: But only if you're comfortable.
I nodded at them while I kept eating. Maybe I should start being brave and start meeting Akashi-Kun again. But where will I meet him? I don't know his scheduled meetings. All I know is that he belongs in a student council club but I don't know which room. I don't know if the student council members will allow me to walk in just to talk to Akashi-Kun. I hope tomorrow I'll make new friends.
The next day in Teiko High School, I walked to my locker and grab some books for my next classes. I see a lot of people hanging out with their peers and talking to each other but I looked away because I don't want that to affect me. I walked to my first-period class without people noticing me. I was still shy again to talk to people and felt out of place like I was a fish out of water. I pulled out my schedule because I forgot where the room of my first-period class was while walking. Then I accidentally bump into someone without knowing where I was going. I looked up and saw it was Akashi-Kun again that I bumped. Thank goodness he notices me.
Me: Eh I-I s-sorry I-I didn't see you!
I was startled a bit but started blushing when he was near me. Akashi chuckled and smiled.
Akashi: It's okay. Hey your Kuroko, right? the guy I helped find your classes.
He then looked at me and remembered me. my heart started pounding and I nodded.
Akashi: So you're headed to your first class?
Akashi-kun asked while he carrying his flyers.
Me: Y-Yeah, I am.
I nodded then I saw that it was a basketball club flyer that he was holding, maybe he's about to give it to me and all students in this school.
Akashi: Oh these are the flyers for the basketball club, we're recruiting new members for our basketball team.
He explained to me while he handed me the flyer. I took it and looked at it for a second. I thought to myself if I should join just to be close with him. Then I realized that I'm not even good at basketball.
Me: I'll think about it Akashi-Kun.
Mibuchi: Sei-chan! Let's go to class together!
I heard Mibuchi-Kun calling his name from the hallways. Akashi turned around and looked at him.
Akashi: I'm coming wait up!
Then looked back at me and smiled.
Akashi: There's plenty of time for you to think about it, I wish you show up though. Anyways I'll go to class now, I'll see you later.
He waved at me and I waved back and smiled. My heart beats faster when he came up to me. It made me happy when I spoke to him again. I think I have a crush on him but... I think Mibuchi-Kun and him are together but I don't want to assume. If they are then I'll give them space.
A few minutes later, I was at my first-period class sitting at the back like usual so I won't get called out in front of my classmates. If the teacher picks on me just to answer the questions on the board, I'll stutter right away and they might laugh at me. I don't want that to happen.
I looked outside the window while the teacher lectures us. I spun my pencil quietly as I kept thinking about joining the basketball team. I remember the times that I was so bad at basketball. It was a few years ago that Ogiwara-Kun and I played basketball together before he moved away. He would always beat me in each game one on one and I barely make any shots at the hoops. He kind of teased me a bit about it but we both had fun that's all it mattered. If I joined the team, it might not be the same as me and Ogiwara-Kun playing basketball together. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but I'll think about it when I go to the library during lunchtime.
