Stirring in her sleep, Violet let out a groan as she opened her eyes. The room was different to the first she had woken in, and yet held the same eerie qualities. No windows, white tiles stretching up the walls and floors, a singular steel door ahead of her. The only part that was different was the hard bed she slept on, it embedded into the wall with a thin blanket strewn across it. Sitting up, Violet eyed the walls that looked as though they went on forever, and caught a look at a small camera watching her every move. A fly on the wall.
She got up from her bed and held her hands ahead of her, reaching for her powers. But nothing happened. No glitter. No flashes of purple, only the tensing of her fingers as she pushed for them. Throwing her hands out further, Violet tried again, grunting as she stretched her hands as wide as they could go. But again, nothing happened. Beginning to pant, Violet rushed her hands to her neck, rubbing subconsciously when she felt something. Small jagged bits of thread dove through her skin, the tissue already starting to scar.
"What the fuck?" Violet muttered.
"Good evening Miss Henry," a loud male voice sounded through her room.
Shooting backwards, Violet flicked her head around all directions.
"Look up," the voice said, her eyes immediately going to the camera "you're finally awake, please sit down."
"Why should I?"
"Don't you want to know why you're here?" The voice chuckled.
Hesitantly, Violet went back to her bed and sat down, crossing her legs. The shirt and short combo she had on were rough to touch, but white and spotless.
"Who are you?" She questioned, "and why don't my powers work?"
"We had to temporarily disarm your powers while we did the procedures, don't worry you still have them," he said, "I'm Doctor White. I'll be taking care of you."
"I don't need taking of."
"Yes your brother told us when you got here," Doctor White replied.
Of course the American patriot survived. Nothing could stop him swooshing his cape around. No consequences. He never saw them.
"Why am I here?" She asked next, looking to the ground.
"You're here because you have a very special power. It was fine letting you run around pretending like you were free, but you belong in here, saving people."
"By saving people you mean pumping people with my own blood. Is that what this is about? Whatever "procedures" you said. This is the lab 2.0 isn't it?" Violet stood up and folded her arms.
"Now now don't do that. We don't want to restrain you. It's true that we are using your powers for compound V but you see Violet... As you get stronger, so will we. Your power is our power, it can change the world and science for the better," the man sounded overly enthusiastic, Violet being reminded of another scientist who thought the same thing.
"Do I not get a say in this? I'm not yours, I'm not anybody's all right? You will not take anything from me," she said.
The man began to chuckle, like so many people in her life did. So condescending. Violet paced around the room, running a hand through her hair.
"It's a bit late for that," Doctor White said, Violet halting, "we've already taken what we wanted. Now we want to rehabilitate you, for your brother. Him and Vought paid a lot to give you your own private lot of the hospital away from the other patients," Violet's ears perked up at that.
"I'm not the only one here?"
"No no of course not," there was a brief pause, "all right I have to go, goodbye Miss Henry."
