And we landed, in 1955. Me and Five followed the Handler into the commission.

"I must admit, number Five, in all the time that I've been here, I've never met anyone quite like you." We continued to walk. "Hazel and Cha-Cha, for example, are talented, certainly, but they can't see the big picture. Your spunk, your enterprising spirit, well it reminds me a great deal, if I may be so vainglorious. If things work out for you here, you could potentially make a fine successor, Five."

She seems to keep forgetting that I'm here. We enter the building.

"I'd like to discuss the logistics of my family's safety at your earliest convenience. As well as this body replacement." She walks us up the stairs.

"Such chutzpah. It's refreshing, I'll admit it. Slow down, Five. All in good time. In fact, now that you've finally agreed to work with us, we've got all the time in the world. The commission works in support of a delicate balance between the time line of events and mankind's free will. The briefcase is no longer part of your kit, Five. Free your mind. You're management now. One of us." We pass the briefcase room, she literally still keeps forgetting I'm here.

"All the people on this floor are case managers, each one responsible for one major event at a time." We stop by a room.

"So many of them." Five looks around.

"Impressive, isn't it? Being apart of something, so grand. Come along." We leave the room. "Whenever someone chooses the wrong path and the time line is changed, the commission gets a report from field agents on the ground. These field reports are sorted and assigned to a case manager. They determine if anyone needs to be removed from the equation to assure that their event happens as it should. Based on that determination, the case manager sends instructions via pneumatic tube to temporal assassins like you formerly were, number Five. Any queries so far?" We pause.

"Yeah." Five spoke. "Who was the case manager handling me?"

"Ah. You mean the apocalypse." The Handler reached out and caressed his face once again.

I shoved her hand off of him and sent her a nasty glare and Five looked in my direction, I don't look back at him. I bite the inside of my cheek, it was taking everything in me to not punch that bitch in the face.

"Don't touch him like that." I say through my teeth, Five stood closer to me and put his hand around the small of my lower back and held me.

"Right this way." She ignores me and leads us into yet another room. "Five, meet Dot." Dot sent Five a welcoming smile and waved. "Dot is responsible for all apocalypse matters. In fact, it was Dot here who first flagged your appearance in 2019."

"No hard feelings." She smiles.

"Well, you certainly put us through the ringer. Outsmarting two of our so-called best temporal assassins." The Handler put her arm on Fives shoulder, I was loosing it, does she have to always touch him? "I'd that doesn't spell leadership material I just don't know. I suspect you like a challenge, Five." She tapped on a chair.

"Which is why I've given you a particularly complex first case." She handed him a red file. "Too bad Joseph Späh decided against sabotaging the fuel tank. It would have been so much easier. Anyhoo,if you have any questions I'll be right behind you." And she now left, leaving us together, she stopped at the door.

"Oh and, I'll find a spot for y/n to be. She can stay here temporarily." Now she actually left, I pulled up a chair next to Fives and sat down close next to him.

I leaned my head on Fives shoulder as he started his case.

"You know, I didn't like how she was touching you." I whispered in his ear, since there were others in the room working.
