Blues pov

"Next!" I bite the inside of my cheek as I step up to the counter, anxiety crawling through my body. "I'd like to register for a card please." The older lady behind the desk looks down at me and sighs.

"Name?"

"Blue." She stares at me, as though what I said was somehow wrong.

"Ok kid whats really your name." I feel my mouth slightly fall open before I sheepishly smile.

"Im being serious, my name is Blue" She nods and begins to type on her keyboard. "Last name." I stare at her. "Just blue." She sighs loudly.

"Look kid, it's 8pm and you're making this real difficult. Give me a full name."

It takes all my will power to force myself not to run away, to not go back out into the city and cry about this small encounter.

"Blue library."

She stares at me, both of us knowing my name isn't Blue Library, but it seems as though at this point she doesn't care.

"Address?" I take a deep breath before thinking.

"Scofield road, Apartment block 3, apartment 24." She nods.

"Ok 'Blue Library', heres your card. You can borrow up to 3 books at a time unless you are a student then you can go up to 9. You get two warning cards if you pass a return date and on the third you get fined $50." I thank her and take the card before practically sprinting towards the exit.

Forget the plan, I can't stay here today.

I need to leave and-

I wince as I crash into something, or maybe someone.

"Woah there, I think you've got the wrong place if your looking to run." I don't answer, just collect the books while repeating an apology, refusing to look his way as embarrassment washes over me.

"Hey hey calm down, i'm fine. It's not like I dropped anything important, just some dumb books." I look up and finally make eye contact with the boy.

He seems around 18 like me, not that i look anything older than 15, and has dark brown hair, green eyes and a slight moustache.

"Books aren't dumb." He smiles and lowers his eyebrows while shaking his head.

"Yeah ok, because paper with writing on that tell ditsy little stories are oh so great." I stand up.

"Actually many books have changed the course of history and continue to affect many peoples lives on a daily basis and-" he stops me by laughing.

"Geez you seem pretty passionate about books for someone that looked like they wanted to escape this place a moment ago."

I blush slightly, realising I must have looked like a maniac.

"You seem pretty passionate about hating books for someone that works in a library." He stands up and takes the books off of me.

"Touché book boy." I frown.

"My names Blue." He smirks.
