ParkerspovI shiver as I walk I towards the tall building. It's currently the beginning of November and the beginning of winter is right around the corner.
And let me tell you, it's freezing!
I sigh as I push open the door to the library and am greeted by a wave of heat. "Thank god for central heating." I hear a small laugh from behind me.
"Thats a silly thing to thank god for." I turn around and smirk at the smaller boy.
"For someone that says they don't want to talk to me, it sure is a coincidence you get here at the same time as me." He pouts and looks away.
Cute.
"Shut up parker." I laugh softly as we walk towards the centre of the large building. I walk over to the desk and watch the smaller boy sit in his usual seat.
"Hey blue?" He hums softly. "Why'd you wear the same clothes every day." He turns to me and frowns. "Thats a little rude parker don't you think, plus you don't see me every day since you don't work every day." I shrug and kick my feet up.
"Ok so why you always wearing the same clothes around me?" He shrugs. "They're warm, I wash them daily so why not wear them again." I smirk.
"Ok mr fashionable, don't want people thinking your homeless or something." He doesn't reply, just stares at me.
"Homeless?" I nod. "Yeah it's when you don't-"
"I know what being homeless is parker!" I raise my hands in defence, as though I'm defending myself against the wrath of his soft voice thats a little stronger than usual.
"Woah chill out book boy, just a joke! The clothes are cool, i was just wondering if it's like a cult thing or something."
We sit in silence for a while, both turned away from each other.
Whyd that get to him so much? Maybe he thought I was calling him unclean?
Damn nice going parker!
"Hey um-"
"What your dream?" I tilt my head at him. "What?" He shrugs. "No nevermind, forget I asked." I shake my head.
"No, my future dream is to live in the sunset, to have my life feel as though it's a sunset, or a sunrise, i'm not picky." He stares at me.
"I don't understand." I tilt my head back and laugh softly.
"Have you ever had a moment when the sun is setting and you realise how beautiful the world truly is and how you'd kill to stay in that moment? How you get this sense of adrenaline where you want to run while listening to your favourite song while the sun is setting in the background? You want to lie on a hill and feel the weight of life drift away just from the colours above." He stares at me.
"I want that." I nod. "Me too, I had it once. Me and my... friend Jake were lay in a field, just the two of us. I've never felt more free than I did that moment." I smile softly while looking up.
"So yeah, thats my dream, I want to get a great job and fall in love, but no matter what I want to keep that sunset feeling. It sounds really dumb i know but you was the one that asked." He laughs softly.
"I thought you was gonna say something about playing video games or getting a hot girlfriend. But I like your answer parker, I really do." I stare at the small boy.
"You don't think it's dumb?" He shakes his head. "It sounds perfect. Fall in love, get a good job, live in the sunset." I nod.
"Thats the plan." We stare at each other for a moment, as though both picturing the ideal world we both want.
"What about you, whats your dream?" He smiles as he breaks out of his trance.
"I just wanna feel safe, happy and warm. I don't need the job or the relationship, I just need something to keep me happy. Maybe a dog." I grin.
"So you don't want to live in a library and marry a princess?" He blushes and looks away. "No..." I laugh softly at his sudden shyness.
"So two guys, a small town, big dreams." He nods and looks at his book. "The chances of both of our dreams coming true are slim to 0." He sighs.
"And thats why I read, to watch others live their dream." I smirk.
"You're not actually watching them ya know- OW" he laughs softly as the elastic band hits me.
"I hope you don't get the dog." He pouts. "I hope you don't get the girl." I smirk and lean back in my chair.
"Who mentioned a girl." He frowns and looks at me. "You said fall in love and-"
"And I didn't say it had to be a girl." I laugh as he goes red and turns away while mumbling a small "oh."
"What? Don't tell me you're homophobic? We've been friends since july! We can't throw this away now!" He shakes his head.
"I'm not homophobic I just didn't expect you to not be straigh." I nod.
"I'm bi." He smiles softly before whispering a small "me too."
"I heard that." His head snaps toward me. "No you didn't." I nod and walk towards him before slinging an arm around him.
"It's ok bi book boy blue." He groans and shoves me away before covering his face.
"I can't believe I actually told you that, i've never told anyone before." I smirk and throw myself back into the slightly uncomfortable desk chair.
"I wont tell, and neither will the millions of other customers in this library." He laughs softly.
Theres only a few other people in the entire building and most are either really old or students in the study section in the back corner.
It's been like this for months, just me and blue talking day in and day out.
"Hey if I quit my job would you ever hang out with me?" He shrugs. "Probably? Why are you quitting soon?" I shake my head.
"No but I just wanted to know if you actually see me as a friend or now." He pouts and looks away. "We're not friends." I laugh and shake my head.
"So you agree to hang out with any old stranger." He pauses and sighing.
"Don't you have enough friends to bother?" I think for a moment before shaking my head.
"Not really. I live alone since my parents moved to the suburbs at the beginning of the summer and all my friends went across the country to a college so it's just me. Although I do have a few friends that would probably love you." He shakes his head.
"I highly doubt it, i'm not much of a people person." I smirk.
"You did fine with talking to me at first." He shrugs. "Yeah but you're weird." I hold my hand over my heart and gasp.
"Wow blue, i'm wounded, I truly am. And here I thought after telling you my sunset dream you'd think of me as cool." He laughs softly.
I love his laugh, it's so refreshing to head, no matter how many times you do.
Ok tone it down parker, try not to sound as gay as possible when talking about him.
"How many sunset moments do you think you get in your life?" I shrug. "Endless amounts, you just gotta find the right sunset." He nods.
"Or the right place." I nod.
"Or the right person."
