"Merlin, Ash, we have to find a better place to do this." Harry panted as he laid down next to her.
The two just finished a three-hour session, and we're extremely exhausted. The work day was long and depressing. Ashlynn had to talk to many people about the situation and each time, she felt sick to her stomach. She still hasn't gotten over the fact that their deaths were on her, but she was getting better.
"I know," she said breathlessly, still trying to catch her breath, "and we'll figure this out. Right now, I need to get home." She took a few more deep breaths before getting up and grabbing all of her clothes.
Hearing this, Harry shot up onto his elbows and watched her intently. "Home? You're-you're leaving?"
"Well, duh, I have to go home at some point. I can't ignore Mark forever." She chuckled, slipping her underwear and bra on.
Harry was confused. "I thought that was the whole point. That we're ignoring them, so we can start something for us."
"I can't just randomly ignore him. He's going to think I'm cheating on him or something." Harry gave her a look. "Okay, I know, I am. But, I have to be smart about this, Harry. I can't just be here everyday."
"And what about me?" He was now sitting up and leaning against the bed frame. "Where will I go?"
"Go back home."
Harry's anger was rising slowly. "How can I go back home, Ash? If you forgot, I broke up with my wife. I broke up with her for you. So, we could be together."
"And I get that, but I never thought it would happen this fast, Harry. We need to take things slow and think. We can't just...do." She was now fully dressed and ready to walk out.
"I am thinking. I know that we needed to end things with who we're with right now, and I had the perfect chance to do so. Ash, I want to be with you, I'm going to do everything I can to speed up the process." He reasoned. He stood up and wrapped the bed sheet around his waist, tucking it under a layer, so it could stay.
"And I appreciate that. But, Mark is different from Ginny. He's not going to cheat like her. At least, I hope so."
"It sounds like to me that you don't want to find a reason to leave Mark."
Ashlynn baffled and paused to look at him. "What?"
"You just said it yourself, you hope he doesn't cheat on you."
"No, I don't."
"See, you don't want him to be the reason you break up. And I know you don't want to make yourself look bad, so neither of you are going to cause a strain in your relationship."
"Okay, now you make me sound selfish." Ashlynn snapped, crossing her arms over her chest and staring at him. It amazed her how she could be moaning his name to screaming at him in mere minutes.
"Well, right now, you kinda are." Harry hissed, mumbling it under his breath, but loud enough for her to hear.
"Are you kidding me right now?" She threw her bag onto a chair and stepped towards him. "If I recall, you were the one who wanted me to be selfish. You were the one who told me to go after something I wanted, and for the first time in forever, I actually am. But, I need to be smart about this, Harry. Because, in case you forgot, we are both cheating on our spouses right now. Even though you're getting a divorce, you're still married. Just like I am. So, I am sorry for wanting to make sure that we don't get caught and have this all go down the drain!"
"See, you found a way to turn this on me. To make me sound like I'm the bad guy!" He exclaimed, throwing his arms out. "It's like everytime I take a big step, you only take a half one. I'm trying to get us together, while you're here waiting for something to magically break up your relationship with Mark."
