Chapter 9

The day was the second Monday of the month. Meaning it was combat sparing. Master Yin walked to the front of the class and announced the sparing partners for today. Isla wasn't listening untill she heard Master Yin say "Aran Armenia you will be going against Yuri"
"Poor girl" Isla thought "Aran is going to wipe the floor with her, and it'll be funny seeing her run from his plasma blast" she laughed to her herself.

The class moved outside to the training field. Isla watched untill it was Aran and Yuri turn. She couldn't wait to see her get destroyed by Aran.

Yuri and Aran walked to the middle of the field where they shook hands
"Good luck" Aran wished
"You too" Yuri said as she turned around while her cloak followed. Yuri knew that she had to use hand to hand combat for this battle but she didn't back out.

They walked to opposite ends of the field and stood there waiting for Master Yin to give the signal. Once the signal was given a barrier was placed around the field allowing for no one else to get involved.
Aran lifted up his wand and started to shoot small plasma blast at Yuri. He was just trying to get a feel for his opponent plus he kinda felt bad. Yuri dodged all of his shots with jumps and rolls. Aran was getting worried and started to shoot more plasma blast and at a faster speed. Yuri continued to dodge as she slowly made her way up the field to him. Aran continued with this pace untill he saw Isla watching out the corner of his eyes.

"Im not going to let her see me lose " he thought

He started to shoot stonger blast at Yuri. Maybe too strong. Yuri continued to dodge untill Aran sent a longer lasting blast of plasma at Yuri. Yuri wasnt expecting the long trail of plasma heading towards her. She barely dodged but the blast scraped her arm causing for blood to slowly soak her cloak. Aran felt bad untill he saw Yuri move up the field at a way faster pace than what she was doing before. He shot more and more plasma but she kept dodging it. Yuri jumped over, slid under and flipped past all of them.

Aran had enough and sent his biggest wave of plasma yet. It was a huge blast covering the middle of the field completely blinding the crowd with a purple tint. Aran thought he had her but when he looked up past his blast he saw Yuri in the air above him ready to land a direct his to his face. He barely dodged it and sent another hugh blast directly for her face. Yuri moved to the right at light speed before the blast could touch her. She was staring dead at him with cold eyes. Aran looked at her eyes. They were a dark red. It couldn't have come from his magic because his plasma was purple.

Yuri threw a direct hit to the middle of Aran's face. As Aran was tying to recover she threw another punch to his chin. Aran couldn't counter in time. She was too fast. Yuri then sent a direct roundhouse kick to his side. Aran gasped and dropped to his knees while dropping his wand. Aran tried to breathe and grab his wand but he couldn't. Yuri dashed behind Aran and grabbed his Chin With her left hand and his hair with her right.

"Oh my god she's gonna kill him"

Isla couldn't believe it. She was about to break his neck. Aran felt the pressure on his neck as Yuri was about to violently twist it but before she could Master yin yelled

"Thats enough"

Yuri let go of Aran's neck letting him drop to the grass. Aran was panting while he was holding his side. The barriers around the field dropped. It was completely silent. Aran turned on his back and looked at Yuri as she looked down on him. He saw her blood stained arm then traveled up to her face but before they could make eye contact she turned around leaving Aran to watch her cloak slightly blow in the wind. Yuri walked to the class. She could sense their eyes on her. She turned around and said "Sorry I get too caught up in these battles sometimes ha ha" and walked back into the school.

Isla was speechless. She jogged to Aran and asked "Are you okay?"

"Yea I'm fine" Aran said as he tried to get up but couldn't due to the pain.

"Isla take Aran to the Infirmary. You two are excused for the day"

Isla followed Master Yin commands and helped Aran get up and on their way to the infirmary.

Isla helped Aran sit on the infirmary bed

"Take off your cloak and shirt" she asked
Aran chuckled "if you wanted to see me shirtless just say that"

He took off his shirt revealing his toned abs as well as a huge purple bruise on the left side of his ribe cage. He also had finger sized bruises on his chin and neck.

"Holy shit" Isla mumbled

"Is it that bad?" Aran asked

"Looks like someone put a huge ass hickey on your side"

Aran laughed "it was a powerful kick. I couldn't get up afterwards. Shes way stronger than she looks..... and scarier" aran mumbled that last part but Isla still heard it

The nurse came to Aran and Isla and spoke to them

"Hello Mr.Armenia and Mrs.Navion. nice to see you. Aran has a slight concussion from the hit that was sent to his chin and a bloody nose from the hit that was sent directly to the middle of his face. He also has 1 broken rib and 3 fractured ones on the left side of his torso from the roundhouse kick sent to his side. Must've been a very powerful kick." She stated
"it'll take around 22 hours for us to heal your injuries so you'll have to stay overnight in the infirmary"

"Okay thank you" Aran said to the lady as she walked away

"Im going to head out. Ill visit you tomorrow morning before class to see how you're doing" Isla stated as she walked out. As she closed the door she saw Yuri leaning against the wall of the infirmary.

As They made eye contact Isla immediately walked up to Yuri, grabbed her shirt and pulled her towards her face.

"What was that? For a healer you're very capable. You almost killed him"

Yuri looked at Isla expressionless. Isla could see her eyes soften for a quick moment before they went back to their emotionless state.

She tightened her grip on Yuri's shirt and pushed her back into the wall

"Answer me" She demanded.

Yuri sighed "I may be a healer but I took hand to hand combat classes since grade 5. I was top of my class and I still train with the higher ups when I'm not healing. I'm sorry that I got carried away. When you have no powers and you're going against someone with powers its hard to not fight to kill."

Isla scoffed " not only did you lie about not having combat skills, you're fucking crazy " she could tell that sentence upset Yuri

"I'm crazy? Aran was fighting to kill and I know you could tell. Those plasma blast would've taken my fucking head off if I didn't dodge, but I guess its okay when he does it since he's your little boy toy." Yuri spat as she smacked Isla's hand off her shirt and walked off.

"You're ridiculous" Isla said as she turned around and went to her dorm
