y/n POV:
I decided to give it a shot. If this woman wanted to kill me so bad, why would she have kept me alive and given me clean clothes. Maybe she isn't a bad person after all.

I sat back down on the edge of the bed and looked up at Sarah. A look of confusion came over my face as I tried to remember what happened before I woke up in the hospital. Sarah looks down at me as she pulls over a chair and sits down in it.

"Where did you come from?" She asked me.

"I just woke up in a hospital room... I can't really remember why or how..." I said, my mind being flooded with thoughts and questions.

"What is the last thing you remember?" Sarah asked, trying to help me have a recollection of the past.

I looked down again, struggling to think. I shut my eyes tightly. It felt as if my memories of the past had just been erased.

"Hey it's okay.." Sarah whispered softly as she took my hand into hers, squeezing it gently. "You don't have to remember it right away." She continued to say.

"Where is everybody? Why did you shoot that man? How come no one was in the hospital?" I asked Sarah, still not fully understanding what had gone on with the world.

Sarah took a shakey breath. She knew she had to tell y/n what had happened to the world. She also knew that it would be a lot for her to take in.

"About four weeks ago... something happened to the world. A disease began to spread which turned the dead into zombies..." Sarah began to say.

I tried to speak but it had felt like someone had just stolen my breath. My mouth opened but it seemed as if I had a loss for words. I felt a warm hand on my cheek. Sarah had been caressing my cheek. Her touch felt warm and comforting. It almost made all of my pain and worry subside. Tears began to flood my eyes as Sarah rubbed the pads of her thumbs across my cheek, wiping the tears away.

"I know this is scary, y/n... But this is the world now. We can't do anything but survive." Sarah said softly but with a straight forward tone. I nodded, still in shock, her words slowly coming to my understanding. "But until then... you need to rest." Sarah said softly, in almost a whisper.

I nodded slowly, still shaking as I hadn't even noticed. Sarah pulled me into her arms as one hand caressed my cheek. I broke down into her arms, sobbing quietly. She shushed my quietly and rocked back and forth. Strangely, even though Sarah was a complete stranger, I felt safe in her arms.

After a few moments of Sarah holding on to me, I pulled away, sniffling. I quickly began to adjust myself on the bed, using the back of my hand to wipe the dampness on my cheeks.

"Thank you.." I said softly before looking up into Sarah's eyes. She saved my life, and I will forever be grateful for that.

Sarah didn't say anything. She just let out a small smile and laid me back down into bed gently. The touch of her hands made me feel safe and loved. "I have to clean your wound and change the bandage.." She continued on to say.

I nodded and laid there on the bed, watching her as she went over to a small table in the room. She came back carrying a tub of supplies and attended to the large wound on my head. "You had to have stitches..." She said, as she carefully removed the bandage from my forehead. I tensed up, letting out a little whimper. "You had quite the gash to your head.." I take a deep breath and nod. "It will make a pretty badass scar, though" Sarah smirked as she dabbed hydrogen peroxide on my forehead. Her hands were gently and almost angel-like. I liked this about her. She seemed like a tough woman inside. But her gestures were soft.

After attending to my wound, Sarah re-bandaged my forehead before making eye contact and winking. "Okay.. I mean it. Get some rest young lady." I couldn't help but smile. "Will do.." I said before repositioning my body on the bed.

My eyelids began to grow heavy as I quickly fell asleep.

Sarah smiled small and kissed my head before walking out of the room.
