We Raise Our Cups

I'm going to do one more chapter as an epilogue, and then the book is done.

[PERSEPHONE]
Pour the wine and raise a cup
Drink up, brothers, you know how
And spill a drop for Orpheus
Wherever he is now

"Where am I?" Orpheus asked.

"You just wander around." Elizabeth answered.

[PERSEPHONE and EURYDICE]
Some birds sing when the sun shines bright
Our praise is not for them

[PERSEPHONE]
But the ones who sing in the dead of night
We raise our cups to them

"That makes sense." Hades said.

[PERSEPHONE and EURYDICE]
Wherever he is wandering
Alone upon the earth
Let all our singing follow him

[PERSEPHONE]
And bring him comfort

"Thank you." Orpheus said.

[COMPANY, PERSEPHONE and EURYDICE]
Some flowers bloom
Where the green grass grows
Our praise is not for them
But the ones who bloom in the bitter snow
We raise our cups to them

"Because they're persevering." Hermes said quietly.

[COMPANY]
We raise our cups and drink them up

[PERSEPHONE]
We raise 'em high and drink 'em dry

[COMPANY]
To Orpheus and all of us

Eurydice and Orpheus were still close to each other, although they both felt slightly better.

[PERSEPHONE]
Goodnight, brothers, goodnight

"Thank you." Orpheus said again.

"You're welcome." Persephone said with a warm smile.
