The Mac had a few days off for rehearsals before their big two night concert at USC. The band had always loved returning to their old stomping grounds. Stevie sat in her hotel room holding her prized baton that she twirled during the making of the Tusk music video. The minute she knew they were playing at USC she made up her mind that she had to bring it. No one knew but she had planned to put together a little twirling routine during Tusk. She twirled the baton in her hand and smiled thinking about a different time. A much simpler time. In fact, it was right after the release of Tusk that Stevie realized shit was getting real. Her relationship with Lindsey had been over but it hit her hard that they would probably never be able to get back to a point where they were friendly with one another. It hurt her, deeply.
Stevie was startled by a knock on the door. She sat the baton down on her nightstand and walked over to the door, not even thinking to check the peephole before swinging it open.
"Uh- hi. Hope I'm not interrupting."
"Oh." Stevie turned and looked inside her room and then back at Lindsey standing outside her door. "Nope. I was just- Well come in."
She steps aside allowing Lindsey access to her room.
"Linds." Stevie couldn't hold back the feelings she had been holding inside since the last time they had really talked after the first show. "I can't do this. You say you want me and then you disappear. You haven't said more than two words to me since we talked that night. I wanted to talk to you, I wanted to clear the air and you won't even look at me. This is exactly the type of shit I'm talking about, I can't play these games anymore Lindsey. I physically can't, my heart cannot take it anymore."
Lindsey looked at the ground letter her vent everything she had to say.
"Steves. I know. I'm sorry. You said you wanted a break and I needed some time myself to figure out what I really wanted. But that's why I'm here. I want to talk. I'm scared as hell but I'm ready." Lindsey let out a deep breath almost as if he had been rehearsing it for days.
Stevie was flattered that he finally had decided to try and face their problems head on but a part of Stevie was already over it, it was too late. Stevie looked into his blue eyes.
"Please. Stevie. Walk with me." He pleaded.
Lindsey held out his hand.
"Let me get a jacket." Stevie said walking over to the closet and taking a shawl off of the hanger. "Where are you taking me?"
"Somewhere special." He said with a soft smile.
