-Karl POV-

I woke up to the sunlight coming through the window, making my eyes squint from it's brightness. I looked around the room I was in and saw Nick, he was dead asleep. I was guessing he was out late.

It was kinda awkward when we first met, I don't usually talk to people and people don't usually talk to me. I was fine with that fact, it made my life easier. I guess.

I looked over at the clock that was hanging on the wall, it was 4:38am, I decided to get up and go on a run or something. I had been playing soccer since I was 4 but had never been the well built athletic kind.

I threw on my sneakers and a shirt and shorts, not bothering to get a jacket because of the warm sun.

When I was about to step out of the front door of the house I remembered something, I had soccer practice later with my new team. Cool, I thought to myself, starting my run. I went down a couple blocks and saw a coffee store, I went inside and grabbed a coffee. I drank it quickly and then ran around for maybe 45 more minutes. When I got back to the shared house no one was awake yet still. I looked at my phone, it was almost 6am.

I took a shower quickly, not wanting anyone else to wake up and come in here. Imagine how uncomfortable that would be. I thought to myself, making me go faster. I knew I was gay and that I could make everything awkward, I found out I was gay when I was in my freshman year of high school, I came out to my parents after a little while and they were very supportive.

I had spent all of high school introverted and not talking to anyone so that people didn't think I was 'crushing' on them or something.

-time skip to like their soccer practice bc im in class and im bored-

I put on my soccer jersey and shorts, grabbing my cleats and shinguards from my bag. I rushed to fill up a water bottle and ran out the door, sneakers slapped on the wood floor.

When I got to the field we were supposed to be on across the campus, there were about 13 people there. I recognized one of them but couldn't put a name on them, I dropped my bag down on the turf sidelines and started putting on my cleats and shinguards.

I was almost done when someone set down their stuff next to me and then sat down, pulling things out of their bag. "Hi Karl." A slightly raspy voice said.

I got startled by this, looking up and seeing a friendly face. It was Nick, my roommate. "Hi Nick." I said with a small smile. "Did you just wake up?" I asked him, pointing at his messy hair.

He looked at me lazily. "is it that obvious?" he said with a chuckle, running his hands through his hair.

"Yup." I said laughing at his attempts.

"Jog it in everyone!" A man in a black running coat and black warm up pants said to everyone. I finished tying my shoe and stood up, Nick trailing behind me. "I'm your new coach, my name is Matthew. Check with your administrator for my number if you need anything." He said confidently. His voice was deep and he looked very serious, I was wondering if that was just his resting face. "Anyways, this year we will be playing hard, no skipping practices or games unless your sick or something where you HAVE to leave. Got it?" He said harshly, making eye contact with all of us.

We all nodded and he clapped loudly, "Alright, let's start with some simple passes, two people in the middle defending, if the defenders get the ball from you or intercept the pass, the person who passed it is now defending and the person who got the ball is in their spot outside the circle."

I spread out and joined into the circle that was forming, when no one else was going in the middle I just stepped in. I was followed by Nick surprisingly and they started passing the ball around. I got the ball pretty quickly, in like 10 seconds. I went back out of the circle and got the ball passed to me. I hit the ball right in the middle of it, making it go the perfect speed and right to someone's feet. After about a minutes the ball got passed to me again, there was a defender on me so I pulled the ball back and turned around, passing it to someone else while keeping the ball in the circle. The person I passed to didn't control it stupidly and the defenders got it.

After we did that drill for a little while Matthew told us to scrimmage, I played wing defense and Nick played in front of me up the line. The game started out good, I passed the ball to people but no one had gotten a goal yet.

Our goalie had the ball now and was looking for someone to pass it to, I ran up to him and he passed me the ball quickly, I brought the ball up the side of the field and saw Nick running toward the goal, everyone else on our team was exhausted and weren't running fast enough. I dodged four defenders and made my way toward the middle of the goal, Nick was at the corner of it so I passed to him when I got the chance, he one touched the ball into the net and cheered a little bit.

Our whole team clapped and our coach was looking at his phone on the sidelines. "Great job!" Nick said to me, high fiving me.

"Thanks." I said quietly.

"Your good at soccer." He said to me, walking with me over toward our bag.

I giggled, "Thanks again."

"How long have you been playing for?" He asked as we both sat down, taking off our gear.

"Since I was four, so..." I did some quick math in my head. "Thirteen years." I said, coming to a conclusion. "How about you?"

"Since I was 12 so six years." He said with a smile.

"Wow I'm younger but still more experienced, huh?" I said, feeling cocky. I smirked at him and he laughed a little bit.

"Guess so." he said smiling.

We started walking back to the house together when he asked something, "Where did you live before college?"

"I lived in New York." I said back to him.

"why'd you decide to go to Seattle?" He asked back.

"I don't really know, I guess there's good soccer teams and stuff." This was true, I didn't know why I had chosen to go to Seattle, I had like 5 soccer scholarships. "Where are you from?"

"Portland." He said back, opening the front door for me.

We both walked up to our dorm, making small talk about why we moved here/how we chose here.

When we walked in the door I threw my soccer bag on the small bench, then went over to my closet, getting out a towel. "I'm going to take a shower." I told Nick. He nodded and looked back at his phone.

I went into the big bathroom, turning on a shower and striping off my clothes. I dumped my clothes in my bag and stepped in the shower for the second time today. I closed the small white curtain to the shower and got a bar of soap, scrubbing myself down and conditioning my brown hair.

I was almost done when someone came in, I stood in the shower for longer, waiting for them to go into their own shower. They went into the shower and I got out, putting a towel around my waist and walking out.

When I got back to the dorm Nick wasn't there so I just closed the curtain in between the bedroom and kitchen.

I got dressed and opened the gray curtain again, looking over to the kitchen. I made myself a sandwich for dinner and sat down on the floor to stretch my legs. After I stretched and ate my dinner I was going to get into my bed but didn't have the energy to after a three hour practice.

I fell asleep on the floor and just as I was about to fall asleep I heard the door open and close.
