TW's: mentions of car crash and drinking problem **not descriptive**

-Karl POV-

I was a nervous reck, me and Nick were on the plane to New York right now. I didn't know why I was so stressed, I hadn't seen my parents in awhile I guess.

I was wearing high waisted vintage boyfriend jeans with a black long sleeved shirt tucked into the pants. What if they don't accept me anymore? I thought, bouncing my leg up and down.

Nick put his hand on my thigh, stopping the bouncing. "Kar, I've told you before, you have nothing to worry about. Your parents love you a lot, okay? Nothing will change that." I nodded, calming down a little bit. I looked at the rose band on my finger, twisting it around at different angles to see the diamonds shine. I smiled to myself and grabbed Nick's hand that was resting on my leg.

When the flight landed we had to sit and wait for a few minutes before being able to get off the plane, I put my backpack on and stepped onto the laminated floors I grabbed Nick's hand with my free hand, I knew New York, you could get lost very easily. I walked us toward baggage claim and when we got to our carisol our bags weren't there yet, I led him to a open spot that was facing the carisol and leaned in to hug him, I put my head on his shoulder and he rubbed my back.

"I'll drive us there, 'kay? You look tired." He said to me.

"Mmhmm." I mumbled to him, not wanting to argue.

Our bags came out quite quickly and we both grabbed our own suitcases, rolling them along the floor and our the doors.

Nick had turned 19 two months ago and I was turned 19 in a week, that's why we had planned our trip the second week of summer.

Nick got our rental car sorted out and we both got in it, it was a white honda that looked like it was made for a soccer mom. Our bags were in the back and I leaned back in my seat and looked at the dashboard clock, it was 5pm.

"Thank you for making me do this." I said to him, knowing I wouldn't have had the motivation to do it myself. "And thanks for driving."

He smiled at me and reversed, pulling out of the busy parking lot. He intertwined fingers with me on the center console and drove with one hand, I gave him directions toward New Jersey, knowing this whole place like the back of my hand.

I pulled out my phone and looked up how long it would take, the GPS said about 30 minutes which wasn't too bad for New York.

I directed Nick right to my parents neighborhood and when we were 1 minutes away I made him pull over at the curb. "They can be a bit much sometimes but they'll love you." I told him.

"And they love you too, stop worrying!" He said to me, leaning over and kissing me on the lips, I ran a hand through his hair and kissed back gently. He pulled back and smiled at me, "It's going to be great." He whispered to me, tucking a small piece of hair behind my ear and kissing my forehead.

I smiled and he pulled back onto the street, there was no one else driving but a lot of kids were playing in their front yards and running across the street. Nick had to drive 5 mph because they would cross the street without looking.

When I saw my parents house I pointed to it, telling Nick it was there. The house looked the same from the outside, it was painted a gray color and was modern, lots of large windows so you could see inside.
