Three days in the infirmary a Solangelo Fanfic

Nightmares

Nico

It was really fun to get to play mythomagic again, I had completely forgotten just how much I loved the game. And it really sucked that Will still had to play doctor, another round would've been so much fun.

"You're no fun!"

"Yeah, well I still have a job to do. And I need to get you better so that you're no longer on the brink of death."

"But it's fun to be living on the edge."

"That's not funny Nico, living on the edge of life and death is not a laughing matter." I know that, I have felt the weight of people die before. I understand that you're not supposed to laugh about it because it's a serious thing, but if I don't laugh at it the only thing I'll ever be able to do is mourn. "Especially when you're talking about yourself dying, there's a lot of people who care about you that would hate to see you go. Including your boyfriend." I blushed when he said boyfriend, it was going to take some getting used to. I didn't know that people cared whether I lived or died, but every time I joke about it Will gets really upset. I'll have to try and cut down on the mortality jokes when I'm around him.

And then I saw Will's face, he was a blushing mess too. And I found it really funny and cute and we ended up having a laughing fit together.

After we calmed down I let Will do another healing session, and then we ate lunch. And I tried, really hard to eat as much as I could. But my appetite still hadn't returned and I still couldn't eat more than a couple of bites of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich Will had gotten me. Luckily though I'm always tired, especially midday, so when Will made me take a nap I passed out cold.

Unfortunately, my nightmares from Tartarus loved to torment my sleep so I woke up in a cold sweat to find that Will was still taking his nap in the next bed over. I didn't want to bother him so I just sat in bed and twiddled my thumbs. After about a half-hour I started to hear Will stirring so I pretended to be asleep so he wouldn't get worried. The only issue is that trying to pretend to be asleep when you're still tired tends to end with falling asleep. So I fell asleep again, and I wasn't complaining about the sleep but my nightmares just don't go away that easily.

And, lucky me, I was getting strong enough for my powers to lose control while I had nightmares. So as I was tormented by Tartarus my energy got zapped from the use of my powers.

Will

I woke up to the same sensation I had when Nico's powers overreacted the first time. To discover that his powers were being used again. I checked on Nico to find him in a similar state as the last time this happened. He was shaking, in a cold sweat, mumbling, the shadows were reaching out to him and thickening, and bones were popping up on the floor. It was alarming to see him in so much distress, but I had handled this situation before so I could do it again.

"Nico, hey I need you to wake up." I moved to be sitting on the bed and wrapped Nico into a hug. I hoped that I could protect him from the shadows since I'm always glowing a little bit and it worked. The shadows retreated from me and I felt Nico begin to warm up. He stopped shaking and overall calmed down, so I planted a little kiss on the top of his head and told him everything was going to be ok.

His eyes flitted open and I caught, just for a moment, a glimpse into all of the pain he was experiencing. It broke my heart, my cute, little, adorable Neeks, I wish I could somehow fend off all of his nightmares. "Are you ok?" I ask softly.

"No." And he buried his head into my chest. I started to rub soothing circles onto his back as I asked if he wanted to talk about it. I got a soft 'not right now' and just decided to enjoy the little moment I got to have with Nico.

Third Person POV

Jason knew he had just walked into a private moment, it was kind of obvious. So he just turned around and decided to wait a few minutes outside. While he waited he began to fervently ship Solangelo. Then he made the mistake to think the coast was clear and walked blindly back into the infirmary. What he saw next was what confirmed that Solangelo was canon, he saw them peck each other on the lips. And he couldn't contain his squeal.

That attracted the boys' attention and the whole fiasco ended up with Jason giggling like a maniac and chanting 'Solangelo,' Will wasn't too embarrassed, and Nico was staring daggers at Jason.

"If you say one word about this to anyone, I will end you!" Nico knew that Jason had already known he was gay but no one else did. So now if Jason accidentally leaked the information to, let's say, Piper, he knew he would never hear the end of it from the entire Aphrodite cabin. And then the whole camp would know and Nico just wasn't ready for that.

"Alright, fine! My mouth is sealed." And Jason made a motion across his mouth as if he were zipping his mouth shut to emphasize his point. "So I just came in here to check in on Nico, and see how he was doing. And I see that he's in excellent hands so I think that I'll just leave you two lovebirds alone. Bye!" and with that, Jason disappeared into camp having the best day ever, and silently shipping Solangelo throughout the entire day.

And that left Nico and Will in the infirmary completely and utterly confused at what just happened.
