They all returned from their winter holiday and things at school pretty much went back to normal. Though the air seemed a bit tense around the gryffindor students Ronald and Hermione only a few days after classes had resumed.

The two had been bickering again but Harry wasn't sure why, and nosey as he was he decided to ask Neville. "They seem a bit tense." Harry asks.

Neville nods. "We came back from holiday and scabbers went missing. Ron is sure that Hermione's cat ate him."

"Crookshanks did no such thing!?" Hermione defends her cat, irritated.

"Well as sad as it would be for Ron, isn't that just nature? Cats eat mice?" Harry says.

Ron steps in now. "Easy for you to say. He wasn't your pet. Scabbers has been in my family for 12 years. I was supposed to look after him." He glares at hermione. "Then her ugly flat faced mangy cat ate him."

"But that's what cats do isn't it?" Harry says. "If you were worried why didn't you keep a better eye on him?"

Hermione smirks. "Yeah ron, why didn't you take care of your pet instead of blaming mine."

"Nevermind." Ron grumbles walking away.

"Sorry I asked." Harry mumbles. "How was your holiday?" He says trying to change the subject.

"It went well enough." Hermione says. "These last few days have been good."

"Just good?" Harry asks.

"Well the trail has been rough." Hermione replies. "They talked about death and Hagrid isn't taking it well. Not to mention Ron swearing he saw Sirius Black in the boys dorm trying to kill him."

"Black was in the school again?" Harry asks. "How did he get past the portrait?"

"Apparently sir cadogan let's just anyone into the common room as long as they know the password." She replies. "Mcgonagall thinks he was after you still unaware that you aren't in Gryffindor."

"I think it has nothing to do with ron." Harry says. "Black is looking for something or someone but I dont think it's a student. At least not a current one."

"What do you mean?" Hermione asks.

"Well I acquired this strange map from fred and george a few months back. It showed a name of a person who is supposedly dead. Lupin told me that it just wasn't possible for the name of somebody dead to show up on the map." Harry explains. "He also said the name had appeared again when he came to see me for Christmas. his name was Peter Pettigrew he used to be friends with my parents."

"Peter?" Hermione questions. There is nobody in gryffindor by that name." She says.

Draco walks past with Jade the two were in a deep conversation about his family and how she would be expected to act like a pure blood instead of like a muggle which he felt is how she had been acting.

"I have to go." Harry says. "If you ever start talking to Ron again, tell him to thank his sister for the scarf again."

"I will tell her myself. We are close friends." Hermione says. "You both seem to like them."

Harry nods. "We wear them a lot. it's comfortable." Harry replies. Then he apologizes and runs after his friends.

Hermione waits for Harry to leave. She was a bit curious about Harry's mention of Peter popping up on a magical map that apparently didn't normally show deceased people. She decided to go have a chat with Fred and George about their knowledge of how the map worked since Harry had mentioned he got it from them.
