THE NEWS OF Phoebe's return had spread like wildfire. Nothing short of what had been expected. She got fingers jabbed in her direction and cursed whispers directed at her. Phoebe liked to think she wasn't effected by the ignorant opinions of others however, it wasn't exactly a pleasant feeling having all eyes on her and she so she raced quickly to find another space of comfort for herself. Somewhere she could shield herself from the unwanted attention.

After leaving Luke's diner, Phoebe made her way back across the town-center green and turned down a shielded street. Rows of oak trees flanked the path and Phoebe kicked the leaves around as she walked. A chilling breeze brushing her hair and causing her to wrap her arms around her torso, protecting her bodily heat.

Soon she was stood in front of large house. The owners clearly well off and prideful of the spotless property. On either side of the door were ivory pillars, vines of rich emerald wrapped around and snaking up the house. The door would have been daunting and intimidating had Phoebe not known the warming sunshine she would find on the other side.

She knocked the surface three times. Stepping back and waiting patiently for the door to open. Felicity Prentiss's head popped around the frame as the door swung open. Upon laying her eyes on Phoebe she leapt out and threw her arms around the small girl in a tight, enveloping hug. One that almost knocked all air from Phoebe's lungs, not that she minded, for the love was encasing her with a tight embrace.

"You're back! You're finally back." Felicity squealed.

Felicity was Phoebe's day one. They'd been best friends since seventh grade. The two girls had navigated the messy pathways of life so far together and would continue to for a long time. As a pair they'd won countless battles and healed each other's aching wounds. After each shattering calamity they could always rely on the other to hold them steadily and let them silently weep. But they wouldn't have the lows without their endless highs. The most treasured memories were four am dance sessions and movie marathons.

Felicity had wild, dark curls that dropped to her shoulders. Her almond eyes were pools of liquid chocolate that held the permanent loving gaze of kindness. She dressed in pink tracksuits and orange mini skirts. Her neck was always adorned by necklaces and crystal pendants and she never went a morning without dabbing her wrists with saccharine, vanilla perfume. She was a lust magnet and a string believer in partying with strangers and yet Phoebe Madonna didn't think she'd ever loved someone more.
