Recap:

"It's nice seeing you relax a bit on the job... You don't do that often and it's lunchtime, you should relax during lunch." Kei breathed out softly in adoration, having formed some form of affection for the younger male in his heart. "I.. I'll try to more often then if that makes you happy." Kaoru nodded and finished up his lunch before tossing his trash out and returning to his seat for the remaining time of their lunch break.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Kei let his mind wander that night as he laid in bed, chest facing the ceiling as his arms rested behind his head. His breathing a bit slower than normal, letting his inhales set in his chest before breathing out just as slowly each time. He could hear the light pattering of a maid doing final checks in the rooms, ears perking up as she came closer to his room, slowly sitting up and grabbing a shirt to pull over his torso before he knocked and entered a moment later.

"Oh... Ninato-san- did I wake you..?" Kei shook his head toward the middle-aged woman. "No Saki-san... I can't sleep... I think I might go for a walk in the gardens... Come fetch me if you need me before you go to bed... Okay..?" His tone was far more professional with the staff of the estate than it was with the people he was protecting. She slowly nodded and smiled at the young man, taking her leave to finish checking the rooms. Kei stood and slid on his slippers, quietly making his way to the gardens, cracking his neck as he looked at the night sky.

Face lit up by the soft hue of white from the moon, hands slipping into his sweatpants pockets. Dark hair shining dully now, eyes having a soft gleam, slowly tilting his head back to the sky. A soft rustle caught his attention nearby, head slowly turning to look at the rustling bush to his left. His hand hovering, instinctively, where his gun would rest on his waist, quickly coming to realize it wasn't there and he hadn't grabbed it from his nightstand.

The tall, lanky man slowly walked toward the bush and looked around it, noticing nothing odd and figuring it was just the wind gusting through, he walked back inside, closing, and locking, the outside door. His legs brought him to Hikaru's room, pushing the door open and noticing only one head of hair under the covers, he nibbled his lip, wandering to Kaoru's room after closing the door for the older twin. His legs brought him to Kaoru's door, pushing it open and spotting the younger twin's head of ginger hair, slowly stepping into the room and making sure he was okay before leaving slowly.

Kei found that this was a new, nightly, routine he went through when he couldn't sleep. He'd go in and check on each of the twins, especially if he knew the two would be sleeping separately compared to their normal nightly routine of sleeping in the same room, and bed. Yet in the month or so the three had lived together not once had either of the young boys been injured, or even missing when he went looking for them. He still had that lingering worry over the two, most especially the younger, resting in his stomach every night.

Though the young man said he'd focus on himself, even made a promise to the younger twin, Kaoru, he never kept to that promise, he still let his mind sink into dread and doubt and he still sat by himself in his room at night. He let his mind wander off for hours before snapping back to reality and realizing it was the early hours of the morning and he'd finally let himself drift to sleep. There was only ever, and only will be, a single time he thought about himself.

When his heart decided to form emotions for a boy he should never have fallen for.

A boy with ginger hair, and golden-colored eyes, who was lanky and slim. A boy who was more mature than his twin. A boy who wasn't even out of high school yet. A boy Kei Ninato should have never gotten close to.

And that was tonight. His heart clenching at the thought of Kaoru, Kaoru Hitachiin getting hurt or scared. The mere thought that one day he'd get called away from him for his job and possibly never see him again, those thoughts made him sick. Sick to his stomach, his stomach that did flips and twisted into a sour taste that he shook off and took deep breaths to calm his racing mind.

He shouldn't be on this job anymore. Yet he couldn't tell his higher-ups. What would they say? He was a coward, weak? Weak for forming emotions he KNEW from day ONE of taking on this job should have never been formed? Would they call him a creep? Discharge him? Have him moved down a rank?

Once again his brain sank into thoughts of doubt and he finally decided to take a shower to clear his brain, seeing as it was nearly four in the morning, he might as well stay awake and sleep that night instead.
