Today was surgery day. Meredith stayed at the hospital the previous night and checked herself in, along with thatcher who had came the previous night as well.

Tonight was also Bailey and Bens wedding, which Derek was a groomsmen In. Meredith would've been a bridesmaid, but due to obvious reasons, she couldn't be.

Derek had slept at home with zola, so Meredith was bored out of her mind. Cristina and Alex had both talked to her for a while though. "You ready Mer?" Alex asked. "Hell yeah. I can't wait to be back in the OR." She replied.

"Hey." Derek said with a smile as he and Zola came through the door. "Mama!" Zola squealed. Derek chuckled and put Zola on the bed. She squirmed her way up on Merediths chest and rested her head gently. "Did you have fun with daddy last night?" Meredith asked as she rubbed Zola's back gently.

"We play tea party." Zola said softly. "You did? Did daddy wear the tiara?" Meredith asked with a smirk as she looked to Derek. "Yeah!" Zola replied happily. "That's good. I bet you were the prettiest princess love bug." Meredith said as she kissed her head. "I wear dress." Zola mumbled. "That's awesome." Meredith whispered.

Derek watched happily as his two girls chatted about the princess tea party. Meredith reallt was the best mother a kid could ask for. Unlike Ellis. "I'll be back in a minute." Derek said before walking out.

Derek found thatchers Room and stepped in. "Ready?" Derek asked. "Yeah." He replied. "Thank you for doing this." Derek said genuinely. "Meredith saved my life after I left her as a kid and blamed her for my wife's death. It's the least I could do." Thatcher replied. "Thank you." He said randomly.

"For what?" Derek asked in confusion. "Making her happy. I saw her with your daughter. She's ten times the mother Ellis ever was. So thank you for giving her a family and making her happy." Thatcher said. "I love her more than anything." Derek said with a shrug. "Need anything? Surgery will probably be soon." "Derek asked. "I'm okay. Thank you though. Go back to Meredith." Thatcher said with a smile. Derek nodded and went back.

"Alright Grey, time for surgery. Your fathers already in the OR being prepped." Callie said as she and Nelson came into the room. "Okay." Meredith said. Derek lifted up a sleepy Zola from her chest and stepped back so Nelson and Callie could move her.

"Good luck. I love you." Derek said as he kissed her softly. "I love you too." She replied as she watched them get smaller as she was wheeled into the OR. Meredith was transferred onto the table. "You know the drill Grey. Take a nice nap, we'll see you when you wake up." Callie said. "Thank you." Meredith said as her eyes drooped close, out in seconds.

Derek dropped Zola off at daycare and made his way up to the empty gallery, per Merediths request. He managed to get in though with a key. He gave Callie a reassuring nod and watched as she made the first cut into his wife's arm.

Nelson had thatcher, and got the nerve out quickly. The procedure itself was pretty quick, but the recovery was long. Thatcher was in and out of the OR, a textbook procedure. Callie got the nerve and carefully placed it correctly into Merediths arm. "Nerve stimulator please." She requested. The nurse handed her one and Callie attached the machine.

Callie shocked the nerve, and it immediately twitched, signaling a successful surgery. "Okay. I'll close her up." Callie said as she looked up at Derek, who was watching intently. She gave a thumbs up and Derek visably sighed in relief. Callie closed quickly and got Meredith back to her room, still slightly under sedation. "How did it go?" Meredith asked sleepily as she woke up. "Callie said it could not have gone better. You feel any pain?" Derek asked. "No." Meredith mumbled. "Good. Get some sleep." Derek said as he kissed her softly.

A few hours later, Meredith woke up and saw Derek all dressed in a suit and tie. She smiled when her eyes connected with his. "I think I'm having a dream a really hot doctor came to take care of me." She said sleepily as she linked her hand with his. "This really hot doctor is leaving you to go to a party." Derek said with a chuckle. "When will you be back?" Meredith asked. "Soon. I'm not gonna stay too late. Alex has Zola tonight so I'm gonna stay here." Derek replied.

"Okay. I love you. Have fun." Meredith said. "I love you too."he replied as he went to turn away. "Wait." Meredith said as she grabbed his forearm. "I think it may have worked." She said with a smile as she looked at her casted hand. Derek smiled and walked out.

The wedding was beautiful. Aside from Adele passing a few hours ago, it was a good day. When Derek got back, Meredith was crying slightly. "What's wrong?" Derek asked in concern as he slipped into bed beside her. "Just promise me you won't put me in a home if I get Alzheimer's." Meredith whispered. "I won't." Derek assured. "Love you." She whispered. "I love you too Mer." He replied as they both fell into a sleep.
