"Mer!" Derek gasped as he ran over to his wife's crumbled form on the ground. He knelt down and found her pulse, thankfully. It was weak, but it was there. "Mer, Mer wake up." Derek said as he shook her gently. He looked at her mangled arm and grimaced when he could see the broken bones poking out.

Meredith moaned in pain and she came around again. "Mer? Stay awake for me." Derek said gently. She opened her eyes and looked at her husband. "Der?" She asked, confused. "Yeah, it's me Mer. Listen, we got to go back to everyone. Think you can walk?" He asked. "I dunno." Meredith mumbled.

Derek stood up and went to help Meredith up when she let out a howl of pain after trying to use her bad arm as leverage. "There you go. You're okay." Derek said as he gently helped her up. She stood shakily on her feet and derek wrapped a supportive arm around her waist, careful not to touch her arm in away which was was still cradled against her chest.

"Are you o-okay?" Meredith asked as they trekked through the the woods back to everyone. "I'm good. Probably judt a concussion." Derek replied. "Can you feel your arm Mer? The bones are sticking out." Derek asked worriedly. "I think so." Meredith replied.

As they were walking, the temperature dropped and Meredith shivered. "We'll be there soon." Derek said as he tried to warm his wife up by rubbing his hands up and down her good arm.

"Mer! Derek!" Cristina said in relief as they finally got back to the camp site. Derek gently sat Meredith down next to everyone and then they all began examining her. "Shep, we're gonna have to close this. Cristina found some supplies." Mark said as he examined the wound. Cristina wrapped a jacket over to aswell to try to keep her warm. "Meredith?" Lexie asked. She looked over and smiled weakly when she saw her sister. "Hi." Meredith said. "You're okay." Lexie said in relief. She nodded, fading fast.

"Mer, we have to lay you down, okay? We're gonna have to stitch that up. It's gonna hurt like hell." Mark said softly as he and Derek pulled Meredith down a little bit, her head now in cristinas lap.

"Get-get a T-shirt," Meredith requested. Arizona tossed them a tshirt from behind them. "This is gonna hurt-hurt like hell." She said before stuffing some of the tshirt in her mouth. Derek nodded and grabbed her good hand and giving Mark a nod to start.

He stuck the baby pin in her skin and Meredith closed her eyes shut tightly, trying to stay as still as possible. "It's okay. you're okay." Derek said soothingly. Merediths muffled screams and the tears running down her face broke dereks heart. "I'm sorry Grey." Mark apologized.

Eventually, Meredith passed out from the pain. "Is she gonna be able to use her arm?" Cristina asked worriedly. She knew her person loved cutting, and if she couldn't do it, what would she do? "I don't know Yang. I'm guessing there's nerve damage, it's just a matter of how bad." Mark replied as he looked at Derek, staring down and stroking his wife's hair out of her face.

"We should make a fire." Lexie said softly. Mark and Derek helped bring Meredith closer to the 'huddle' and laid her down. The men nodded and quickly got to work. It actually wasn't that hard to build a fire, considering they were in a forest with hundreds of thousands of sticks. The fire was small, but it would make do.

Meredith soon woke up, and they were sure her arm was infected. It had a nasty smell, and it was just bad. She shivered once more, even with the coat and Derek saw that. He gently pulled her in between his legs and pulled his arms out of his jacket, so it was just resting on his shoulders. Derek wrapped his arms and the jacket around Meredith and surrounded her with his body warmth. He covered her arm the best he could and kissed her dirty neck.

"Zola." Meredith croaked. "I'm sure she's okay with uncle Alex." Derek replied, although on the inside he was terrified for his little girl. "Listen, I found some food and water, we're gonna have to ration it. Also, I want all of you staying awake, okay?" Cristina interrupted loudly. They all nodded and Cristina gave Meredith and Derek a pack of cookies to share, along with everyone else.

"You think they're looking for us?" Arizona asked. "It's-its been a a long time. They had to have noticed we never made it." Lexie said from marks arms. He looked down at the fragile woman in his arms and a made a promise to himself that he would do everything in his power to make her happy again.

"Mer, stay awake. I know you're tired." Derek said quietly. Meredith shook awake again and moaned. While she closed her eyes, she could picture laying in bed with her husband and her daughter, all curled up together. And that's where she wanted to be. Not stranded in the woods. She pushed herself closer to derek and rested her head on his chest.

Derek was very worried for his wife more than anything. He knew that cutting was her favorite thing to do, and he knew that if she couldn't operate again she'd lose her mind. As the neurosurgeon he was, he desperately wanted to examine the wound more delicately, but he did not want to cause her any more pain. Being sure there was nerve damage, he would make sure the best orthopedic surgeon would operate on her, which at this point, was inevitable.

So, that night, they sat vigil, hoping, waiting for someone to find them.
