"... I was the one who was supposed to confess instead Noah did and said that he was done with me... and I lost him." I blew a breath, finishing my story.
It felt good to tell someone. I never told dad because I knew he would beat the shit out of them maybe that was the reason I told Miss Maddox.
My name was called, I excused her to get my order, and when I came back; she looked deep in thoughts.
I quietly sat on my seat and cut the pancake, but before I could get the bite in my mouth she spoke. "You know I was like you when I was younger."
"You were?"
She nodded her head and continued. "I was a cheerleader, popular girl of the high school-" I cracked up at that. She narrowed her eyes at me, but I put the bite in my mouth and chewed it. "As I was saying. I liked a guy, but he was a..." She trailed off, searching for a word.
"Nerd?"
"You shouldn't call people that." She looked at me sternly then said. "And yes you can say that."
"What happened then?" I scooted closer.
"I liked him... Maybe even love, I don't know but because of being popular, liking him hindered and I was fool enough to let him go because of that and I never found a guy like him again." She mumbled looking at her drink.
I blinked my eyes, trying to process her words. "Are you still in love with him?"
"I don't know." She whispered, then looked at me. "The point is if you think that Mr. Stone is the guy, don't leave him or you will regret it."
"But I just told you-"
"Are you saying that Lexi Wolf is giving up?" She smirked. "I didn't know you were weak."
Now that riled me up. "I'm not weak." I narrowed my eyes.
"Prove it." Her smirk widened.
"Fine!" I huffed, getting from my seat. "I'm going to confess my feelings to him." I stepped out of the seat but halted by her.
"You should finish your food." She pointed at my pancake. "You don't want to faint before listening to his answer." I pondered in it then sat back eating. "And do me a favor." I glanced at her as she scrunched her nose. "Shower before you go."
I ducked my head in embarrassment and finish my pancake.
* * * * *
After running home, I took a shower and wore my white dress with thigh-length boots. I parked my car outside Noah's house and saw his parents getting out.
"Lexi!" His parents smiled at me. "We were just about to leave for the session."
"I'm sorry to come unannounced, Mrs. Stone., I mumbled, shifting in my place. "But I need to talk to Noah."
"He's in his room dear." She smiled, and I thanked her. After they left, I ran upstairs to Noah's room and was glad that we were alone.
I slowed my steps as I reached his room and heard him playing his guitar. The music was so sad that it made my heart ache.
"Hi , Noah." I greeted him as I stepped into his room.
"Lexi... What are you doing here?" He asked, surprised, sitting on his bed.
"I... wanted to talk to you."
"You made it pretty clear that didn't." He pointed out the event of this morning.
"I'm sorry about that... everyone was giving me a headache and... I needed some time alone."
"You always want to be alone, huh?"
