When Lucius got back, he knew he would find his fiancée missing. He knew this when he was on the west side and saw an army already there; a piece of the plan that Valentina didn’t mentioned before.
Of course, Vladius and Radius fought them easily; it was almost as if they knew to expect this. Sensing something was not right, Lucius left Dante and Cezar to assist the Dragomirs and returned to the main wall. Elizabetha and Anastasia looked away from the front and nagged him with questions while blocking his view of the frontline. When he had finally gotten them aside, he looked out and saw Valentina and Derrick in the distance riding and killing enemies in their path; they were going to Rog’s camp.
Lucius was pissed off and the women knew this but they smirked when their children have reached the forest. Lucius contained himself and crossed his arms to prevent himself from smashing something and stared at his fiancée’s back. When she turned around, he motioned for her to come back and stubborn as she was, she rode on with a smirk identical to her cousin.
When she was gone, he issued orders to a page boy, “Boy, get my horse ready and inform my elite guards to meet me at the front in 1 minute or I will hang them”. The boy went pale but nonetheless, he ran to carry out his task.
“Lucius…let her do this”, pleaded Elizabetha. “My daughter knows what she’s doing…she has done this before and won”.
“And let her come close to a vampire who was hoping to keep her alive so that she could witness the horror that will be done to her? My lady…I will not chance it”, Lucius said angrily. He turned to walk away from the Dragomirs but then angrily returned to stand menacingly in front of the two women. It wasn’t the way he wanted to start off with his in-laws but at that moment, he didn’t give a damn. “Let me mind you, my ladies, that Valentina is still a mortal. If she dies…she dies and I…”
Lucius couldn’t finish that sentence because he knew what will become of him. From his despair, hatred will come and an intense need to destroy all his enemies will develop in him. He will be a lost cause…a crazed lost cause.
“You underestimate my niece, Sire”, said Anastasia arrogantly. “We have all trained her for this moment and I will not have you ruin it for her”.
“Don’t worry… she might be angry with me for all eternity but I rather that than not have her by my side”, he finished angrily and departed. As he saddled Tartarus, he felt Dante’s presence next to him on his own horse.
“She didn’t even mention anything of this to me! Why?” asked Dante angrily. “I bought her flowers. I went shopping with her. I suffered those vampire movies with Edward Cullum in it. She even said that I was the perfect boyfriend according to her Cosmopolitan magazine. Come on, I’m Cosmopolitan’s awesome boyfriend and she still didn’t say anything about going after Rog personally?!?!? Couples are supposes to share everything with each other!!!” Usually when sensitive Dante becomes emotional, Lucius was always willing to put reason into him but not today. Today, he didn’t have the patience nor was he going to ‘talk about it’.
“At least you know how I feel, cousin”, said Lucius darkly. “Come, I must go and claim my fiancée”. They followed Valentina’s route through the dark forest. Looking at the light horse tracks, he knew that his fiancée rode fast.
“What do you think they are up to?” asked Dante.
“I believe my fiancée wants to kill Rog personally and she’s letting her anger take her into the lion’s den. That was not what we planned”, replied Lucius.
Originally, he had planned to fight towards the camp and make Rog run back and trap himself inside his castle. He had thought Valentina would agree and remain patient until that time but obviously, she had another plan in mind.
