Standing next Cezar, Anna watched Lucius and Valentina with their arms linked, walk regally towards their thrones. She ignored the tempting beauty of the princess and focused intently on Lucius; her one true love though he will never return the favour. He has banned her from entering his castle casually unless given permission. She had cried all day when he instructed the guards to lock the castle gates, which was rare.
Since the princess’ return, she had witness Lucius’ growing love for his betrothed regardless of the princess’ spite. She saw it in his eyes and she loathed it. Who could love such a girl? The princess was no lady. Yes, she played the piano and sang beautifully but so could Anna. Valentina fought in battles instead of taking tea with her ladies. She rode her horse like a soldier in boots and leather while a lady SHOULD have her back straight and wear an elegant hat. Valentina did none of the protocol of a lady. She mocked the concept of etiquette and with that, she gained Lucius’ total love and dedication.
Anna went green with jealousy when Lucius lazily gave his fiancée free reign over his army and his share of the war spoil. What is wrong with Lucius lately? He had in the past loved many women but never like this. Anna felt depressed as everything she has done to gain his attention or approval have been for nothing. She had dyed her brown hair black, regularly wear green contacts though it makes her eyes glassy and she had recently gotten a rhinoplasty. Yet Lucius hadn’t spared a single glance at her.
Composing herself again, she watched him stand protectively next to his fiancée. He was so handsome in his dark tailored suit and neat dark hair. His steel eyes flashed at Rog with anger but they brought a smile on Anna’s face. Those eyes had once flashed with heat when he was with her. They were both sixteen and after all the chasing on her part, he had finally succumbed to her charms. They were at a hotel, celebrating his birthday but Lucius was less than festive; he was annoyed at the Dragomir and pained.
When Anna came to him, he welcomed her company and later her kisses. Within minutes, they were in a president suite, kissing passionately and taking off each other’s clothes. When Lucius pushed her on the bed and they started having aggressive sex, she felt victorious and wanted Lucius to remember this night. She had hoped that the night will forever be embedded in his memory, so after Lucius came, she pushed him under her and had sex for the second time.
At the time, she could see her future opening up to her; Lucius destroying the betrothal decree for her, their marriage and she being queen. As he slept, she fingered his ebony hair and his hard muscles; to her he was a god. The scars on his back, arms and across one side of his jaw from his wars made her heat up again with desire. However, the next morning, she had expected breakfast in bed but only found Lucius with a hangover and a regretful demeanour.
“Good morning handsome”, she said seductively, flashing her chest, hoping for morning sex. After securing his pants, Lucius turned around and handed her a bath robe. She saw regret in his eyes and immediately captured his arm.
“Don’t worry. The Dragomir princess will never find out. It will be our secret. We can continue to do this while she’s around…I have my ways, love”. But Lucius shook his head and while he put on his shirt, he said, “No Anna, it was a mistake and I blame myself. I don’t want to do this again. I am sorry but you are better off with someone else. Last night, I was pained … my princess has not returned to me. But please, I hope that you will keep this secret away from her”. He then called for her breakfast like a gentleman. Anna, however, was not going to give up.
“Lucius…follow your heart. I know you do not want to marry this princess who disregards you even now. Where is she? I find it hard to believe that she wouldn’t know about the betrothal. You can admit to me that all you want is her virginity and kingdom. I know that but don’t regret last night and when you bore of her, I’ll be right by your side. The Dragomirs are nothing now”.
