He was looking for a new bride! Valentina was furious and glared at the back of Lucius’ head in the car, on the way to the game. However, there wasn’t going to be a game; only a grave site. But Valentina wasn’t thinking about the mission at the moment. No, she was glaring a hole into Lucius’ head. Not so long after the end of our engagement and he decides to find a wife amongst his supporters, Valentina seethed silently, how dare he? I haven’t even thought or planned my marriage to Darim yet. Son of a bitch!
Originally, Valentina had decided to be engaged to Darim for a few years so that she could cleanse Lucius out of her system. Now that he was looking for a bride, Valentina was sure that he will marry within a year but the question was: who? No, I can’t watch as he joins in matrimony to another. No, I’ll …I’ll leave and expand my territory; far away so that I’ll never bump into him or his wife, Valentina thought sadly. She felt her eyes water and discreetly turned away to swipe at the tears when it fell.
It wouldn’t be Anna, Katarina or Iona, Valentina reasoned. He doesn’t trust them at all. It has to be someone who does what he says but who? She mentally went through Lucius’ list of conquests and then she settled on one: Princess Margaret. At the mere thought of the blonde thin princess, Valentina’s heart pounded with hatred and murder. And why wouldn’t he want Margaret? She was thin with straight blonde hair. She was an image of Claudia Schiffer and Paris Hilton mixed together.
Valentina remembered being handed a photo of Lucius, handsome in his polo gear, walking next to a blonde in a sundress. She was as tall as Lucius, who was nearing 6.4 feet, while Valentina could only reach up to his shoulders. At seeing Lucius with the blonde, Valentina’s blood boiled and she later succumbed to Elizabetha’s constant nagging for her to model. Valentina still cringe at the look on Derrick’s face when she was modelling lingerie; her cousin was laughing hysterically. I hope Lucius hasn’t got his hands on those photos or I’ll die of shame, thought Valentina.
Finally, they arrived at the manor of which the game will start and waited. At the stroke of 8, the five of them exited the Jeep and walked swiftly into the building. Zach and Derrick went up ahead and silently disarmed the men guarding the manor. On the ground floor, just next to the large dining room, Valentina heard excited voices of traitors, who have eluded her wrath until now. She touched her pocket where she placed the thirty declarations demanding the death of the vampires inside. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Lucius noting her movement and he raised a handsome brow. Valentina ignored it and focused on the task in front of her.
On the count of three, Darim opened the door and he, Valentina and Lucius entered with their stakes out. The vampires inside, all seated around a dealer’s table were slow to understanding but when they saw Lucius, panic rose followed by anger. Darim locked the doors and the three of them took care of business. Valentina jumped onto the dealer’s table, favouring the high ground. A second later, Blanche advanced towards her with his own stake out.
“I guess I have myself a hostage”, he said with a smirk. “I should have known that you and Smyth had dealings with Vladonov. What is your true name?”
She looked at him, with no green contacts to hide the glow of her emerald eyes. “Can you guess?” Valentina asked with a smirk.
Blanche cringed his eyes and then they widen in recognition. “Dragomir”, he said slowly. “Valentina Dragomir”, he said loudly, such that the other vampires still alive look towards them. Panic rose in the air like smoke and Valentina grinned evilly.
“Very good”, she mocked. “You’ve should know that there is no hiding from me.” In his distraction, Valentina staked the vampire and threw his body to the side. She looked over to Lucius and already 5 destroyed vampires laid at his feet while he was duelling with another three. Five more vampires jumped onto the table wanting to rid the future Dragomir queen and she took her eyes off her love. She easily destroyed three of them but when it can to the last two, they died at her feet; staked at the back by Lucius.
