I will kill him

Valentina saw pity and regret in Lucius’ eyes and instinctually, she backed away from him, trying to slide off the bed. Lucius immediately made a grab for her and she struggled, “Lucius…what is it? Speak now!”

“Stop it”, he ordered her. Valentina stopped her struggle but remained eyeing him suspiciously. When it was quiet, Lucius finally spoke.

“Don’t ever do that”, Lucius said quietly. “Don’t ever think that I’ve betrayed you. Have you been having dreams about stakes?”

She gasped and asked, “How did you know?” Yes, every night she went to sleep, she would dream the same dream; stakes. In the dream, she would be walking alone in the Carpathian, trying to journey through the heavy snow. Then she would see someone in the distance and race over to them. It was always the same man and he would always have his back to her; even when she called out to him. The man was tall with ebony hair and when she was a metre away, he would turn and look at her with emerald eyes; Lucian Dragomir.  Her father would smile kindly before he flashed his fangs and stake at her, and then try to kill her.

The first time Valentina had this dream; she was at the villa and woke up drenched in her sweat. Since then, it got progressively worst. At first, her father would chase after her but lately in her dreams, he would catch up to her and stab her several times. However, tonight was different; her father didn’t catch up to her. It might be due to Lucius ‘presence.

Lucius looked at her and demanded, “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It was nothing I can’t handle”.

“Next time, tell me”, ordered Lucius and then he sighed. “Stakes mean betrayal and yes…you’ve been betrayed”. At this Valentina jumped out of her bed, grabbing her own stake from under her pillow and backed away from Lucius. Her fiancé looked annoyed again and slowly got up. He walked cautiously towards her with his hands up like he was approaching a scared animal.

Valentina suddenly realised that she was in her fight stance and most unfortunately, in her red lingerie. Not very fearsome at the moment, she thought. Lucius noticed this and smirked. He was so handsome in his navy boxers and Valentina grimaced at herself for not concentrating. “Valentina, I told you not to fear me. It is not me and it will never be me. Let me show you something.”

He turned back to his clothes left on a chair near the fireplace and Valentina took the opportunity to quickly put on a short silk gown. She grimaced at the fact that it was from Agent Provocateur and had seductive lacings but she soldiered on. When Lucius turned back, with something in his hand, he looked at her, amused and said, “If you were my wife, you wouldn’t be as covered up as you are right now when we argue. But then again, when we do have an argument, I don’t think we will be talking much”.

When she said nothing but eyed him cautiously, Lucius sighed and held up a small wooden plank. She gasped when she saw the blue crowned lion and said, “No…he’s not that stupid”.

“Well, he is”, concluded Lucius. “Be happy to know that he still thinks of you intimately. He only wants my head”. Then Lucius recounted on what he saw at Rog’s camp before showing her the wooden stake with the platinum tip. Just by looking at the stake, she smirked knowing that it was more useless than an ordinary wooden one. Lucius raised an eyebrow at her and asked, “What’s so funny?”

She moved to grab the stake and immediately, Lucius’ arms were around her waist; holding her tightly to him. “Don’t ever do that again”, he repeated. “I am not your enemy and I will never be an idiot like Alek”. Feeling bad, Valentina turned in his arms and gave him a long kiss, feeling the tension and annoyance leave him.

“I’m sorry, my love”, she apologized. “Instinct took over…” Feeling her apologies were not good enough, she pulled him to a couch near the fireplace and saddled him before kissing him hard. Wonderfully, her fiancé returned the affections and he undid her gown, pulling past her shoulder where he kissed and sucked. Valentina held onto Lucius’ shoulder as he got rougher in his kissing and nervously, she felt his desire and arousal grow. Somehow he managed to get them on the bear-fur rug on the floor with her on her back and Lucius on top.
