Brooklyn's POV
Where the hell is he? Daniel Grigori. Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to be within a metre of him if I could help it but lets face reality. We are in the same life skills class. It was unlikely that we would be paired together for this project but we are. Do I like it? No. Am I being forced to like this situation. Yes. No matter how hard I've tried I can't switch partners, lucky me. I'm not failing this class because of him, I won't allow him the satisfaction. The least he could do was show up to the bloody class though.
"Is Daniel still not here?" Mr Halden asked me as I was knocked out of the angry thoughts filling my head because of him.
"No, I can't believe him, irresponsible as per usual." Mr Halden let out a small chuckle which I did not find amusing. "It's not funny."
"Oh I know, it's ironic that you're complaining about the absence of the very person you claim to hate." I shot him a glare.
"What do you mean, claim? You don't even know the situation." The teacher seemed slightly taken back by my aggressive tone of voice.
"No, you're right, I don't know the situation. What I do know is that whether Daniel is here or not I still need one of you to take a baby home with you. You'll have to sort out your arrangements with Daniel in your own time." I rolled my eyes.
"Of course I do" I complained, still angry about Daniel's absence.
Mr Halden walked off to talk to someone else whilst I sulked in my chair, probably immature but at the moment I didn't care. I looked up when I felt two fingers at the side of my lips pushing them upwards.
"Come on Brook, turn that frown upside down" I swatted Lyndon's hands away as he took Daniel's empty chair next to me. "What's up with you?"
"Daniel." Just by mentioning his name I saw the complete change in Lynd's expression.
"Even when he's not here that he's a pain in my ass." That comment did cause a smile that I couldn't hold back. I leaned into Lyndon's side as he wrapped his arm around my neck.
"See, this is why I love you, you always manage to make me smile." My smile reflected onto his face.
"That's what I'm here for, what's he done now anyway?" I was smiling due to the warmth radiating from Lyndon, despite being angry at Daniel.
"He's not here again so we still don't have a schedule, I have to look after the baby all on my own. The one time I actually want him."
"Brook, you're too good for him. You don't need him, you can manage this on your own. You're like superwoman, one of the strongest people I know and you can do anything. If you can't do this, nobody else stands a chance. Remember I'm here though if you need anything." He kissed my forehead "I love you, I'll see you later." With that he got up and walked back over to his partner.
I actually felt so much better after talking to Lyndon, that's what I love about him, how he's always there for me and knows exactly what I need to hear.
Mr Halden approached me again but this time with a baby. He handed it to me with a sympathetic look.
"I assume you put your permission slip in the box on my desk" I looked around to the small red square box sitting on his desk next to his mug saying 'Nick.'
"I'll do it on the way out" he gave a small nod of appreciation and continued talking.
"Not that I expect anything bad from you but I will warn you nonetheless. This baby can only be turned off by me so don't even try. If you do and it breaks, you will pay for a replacement. This baby is monitored and I can see your performance dealing with a baby, all day, everyday. Your grade will be a reflection of how good your performance is."
