i knock on the door, sighing heavily. the bookbag on my shoulders felt unbelievably heavy. it didn't take too long before his sister opened the door, smiling softly.
"hi (y/n)!" she cheered, side stepping and gesturing for me to come in. i walk in, kick my shoes off as i smile at her. "he's in his room. i don't think he's recording or anything, but don't quote me on that." i nod, placing my bookbag by my shoes and going down the hall.
i open his door to see him sleeping, some tv show i didn't recognize playing on the tv. i walk in and close the door behind me, which wakes him up.
"hello?" his voice was deep with sleep. he didn't turn to see me, instead he pulled the blanket higher up.
"hi," at the sound of my voice he turns to face me. he smiles widely. wordlessly, he lifts the blanket up, a silent offer for me to join him in his nap. quickly, i take him up on the offer, climbing into the spot he made for me.
once i get situated, he drops the blanket and wraps an arm around my back. my head rests on his chest, the soft beating of his heart was calming. he rubs my back softly.
"how was your day?"
"bad." i deadpan, scooting almost impossibly closer to him. he brings his hand up to the back of my head, patting softly before running his hands through my hair.
"wanna talk about it?" his voice was starting to warm up a bit.
"everything just seemed to go wrong today. i had three quizzes i didn't know about, my science teacher yelled at me because i forgot my textbook in my locker. then my lab partner wasn't there so i had to do the experiment by myself." i explain, slowly being lulled to sleep by his hands running through my hair.
he hums softly. "i'm sorry. at least it's friday and you can spend the weekend here." although my eyes are closed, i can hear the smile in his voice.
"don't get cocky." he laughs at me. "how was your day?"
"i streamed with dream this morning, watched one of john mulaney's comedy shows, and then took a nap." i smile at the simplicity of his day.
"which one?" i ask, peaking over to look at the tv which had moved onto some cartoon.
"kid gorgeous at radio city." he says, looking down at me. i smile widely.
"street smarts with jj bittenbinder." i chuckle while saying his name. which sapnap joins in. he shifts in his position, reaching for the remote. he turns off the cartoon and going to his my list on netflix.
he scrolls until he finds the comedy special and starts playing it again. i laugh, watching the tv as he restarts the special.
"you're watching it again?" i ask, still laughing.
"it's getting you to laugh, yeah? you deserve to laugh. hopefully it'll make your day better." he then turns volume up, throwing the remote down on the bedside table.
i smile at his reasoning, moving my arms to hug his side. i mumble a thank you, which i'm not totally sure he heard. however, i soon fully focus on the tv.
he was right though. this definitely made my day better.
