Chapter five: Motostroke

Morning had arrived, Victor woke up first to get ready for the day. After he finished Hop woke up and noticed Victor up.
"Morning Victor, you're up already?" Hop asked, getting out of the bed.
"Yeah, I just wanted to get a head start for the day before the match." Victor said.
"Alright, I'm gonna wash up and I will see you in the lobby." Hop said, heading to the bathroom.
Victor made his way down to the lobby and sat in the cafe area waiting for the other four to finish. Marnie came down first and saw Victor in the cafe.
"Morning Victor, did you sleep well last night?" Marnie asked.
"Morning Marnie, and yes I did sleep well." Victor said.
The two just stared at each other until Marnie decided to sit next to Victor. Gloria and Hop came in at the same time and saw the two chatting.
"Morning you two, you seem close." Hop said teasing the two.
"We have no idea what you are talking about." the two said at the same time blushing.
"Aw they are talking at the same time." Gloria said.
"Whatever, so what do you want to eat for breakfast?" Victor asked.
"We can just walk around the town and see what is good." Gloria said.
"That sounds like a good idea Gloria." Hop said.
The four left the Inn and walked around the town for a place to eat. The four stumbled upon a crepe cafe named "Alcreamie's Sweets and Crepes" and they decided to go inside to eat. They all sat down and a waiter came to take their orders.
"Hello welcome to Alcreamie's Sweets and Crepes, where everything is sweet under the cream, can I take your order?" the waiter asked.
"Yes, I would like to order the strawberry chocolate crepe with a white chocolate mocha." Gloria said.
"I will order the Charziard special crepe with a ice coffee." Hop said.
"I will take the chocolate banana with extra cream crepe with a green tea mocha." Marnie said.
"I will take the same as her, but with chocolate milk tea." Victor said.
"Alright, I will get your orders as soon as they are ready, so sit tight and enjoy yourselves." the waiter said, as she left for the kitchen.
The four waited for their orders and the waiter came out with their drinks. The waiter came back with their crepes and the four enjoyed them. After they were finished with the crepes they paid for their meal and headed to the Wild Area for one last bit of training before their match. Victor's current team consisted of Thwackey, Corvisquire, Drednaw, his Sizzlipede evolved into Centiskorch, Toxel was still training up to evolve soon, but has gotten stronger, and Dreepy evolved into Drakloak and is much stronger than when it was a Dreepy. Victor loved his team and he knew they would be strong. Hop's team currently has Drizzile, Dubwool, Corvisquire, and Boltund. Gloria's team consisted of Raboot, Dubwool, Galarian Linoone, and Milcery. Marnie's team had Morpeko, Crogunk, Scraggy and she recently caught a Purrloin and it has become a great addition to the team. The four trained up their Pokemon before taking on Kabu, they knew this battle would be tough, but they felt that they could beat Kabu and advance through the challenge. After about an hour of training the four set up a table for lunch. Victor and Gloria were cooking curry, while Hop and Marnie set the table up for them and set an area for their Pokemon to eat. Victor and Gloria announced that it was time to eat and all of them got their plates ready to eat. Everyone enjoyed their meal and once again Victor and Gloria were praised by the amazing curry they had made.
"Seriously how do you two do it, how do you make such delicious curry?" Hop asked, stuffing his face with the curry.
"It is really nothing. We just make the curry with the ingredients that we have on us and we make it work." Gloria said.
"Whatever is the case you and Victor are really good at making this curry." Marnie said.
"Thanks, but hopefully we can make even better curry, don't get me wrong this curry is amazing, but I want to try to make the best curry which is using a G-Max spice that is very rare." Victor said.
"When that day comes Victor I will come right over and enjoy it." Hop said.
The four finished eating and cleaning their area before heading back to Motostroke for their battle. They arrived in front of the gym feeling a bit nervous.
"You guys ready for this is gonna be a big battle for you." Gloria asked the other three.
"We will do our best and I know we can do this." Victor said.
"Yeah I believe." Marnie said.
"I believe as well, come on you guys lets do this." Hop said rushing into the gym.
The four entered the gym and registered themselves for the match. The four got changed in the locker room and headed to the trial. The challenge for the trial was to catch or defeat at least two fire Pokemon in the patches of grass. The three split up into the patches of grass in hopes of finding a fire pokemon. Hop found a Growlithe and he decided to catch it, while he found a Sizzlipede and defeated it. Marnie caught a Sizzlipede and defeated a Vulpix. Victor decided to catch both a Growlithe and a Litwick. The trial was over and the three advanced to the gym field. On their way to the field they see Kabu at the field entrance waiting for the three.
"I see you three have made it through the trial, can't say I'm impressed, but you three seem like worthy challengers." Kabu said.
"Thank you Kabu, so why are you here instead on the other side of the field?" Hop asked.
"Oh right, I'm here to challenge the three of you to a three on one match, that's right I watched your past battles and I have to say you three seem like you came this far with team effort and it would be an honor to battle you three as a team." Kabu said.
"Wait a three on one battle, how would that work if our Pokemon number must be doubled or tripled your team number?" Victor asked.
"Simple I will fight you three with my Dynamax Pokemon while you three get to choose which one you want to send out, and only one of your Pokemon may Dynamax. Think of it like a raid battle. I will see you on the field, I hope you three are ready." Kabu said, walking out into the field.
"Well that was a lot to take in." Victor said, looking at the other three.
"A three on one with Kabu, he must have some passion towards this or he could be wanting a bigger challenge." Hop said.
"Whatever the reason may be, what is the plan?" Marnie asked the two.
"Let's do this me and Hop will use our water Pokemon and Marnie I would suggest you use your Morpeko since it can paralyze and it is the strongest Pokemon you have at the moment." Victor suggested.
"Not a bad idea, but who gets to Dynamax?" Hop asked.
"Let me Dynamax my Drednaw is Water and Rock I can overpower Kabu's Pokemon." Victor said.
"Alright sounds like a plan, let's do this." Hop said.
The three rushed into the field and they saw Kabu ready for battle.
"Lets see what you three can do together as a team." Kabu said, sending out his Centiskorch.
Victor sent out his Drednaw, while Hop sent out his Drizzle, and finally Marnie sent out her Morpeko. Kabu immediately Dynamaxed his Pokemon, but to the three surprised Kabu's Centiskorch could Gigantamax. The three were shocked, but that didn't stop them from this battle. Kabu attacked first using his G-Max move doing at least halving all of their Pokemon's health. After his attack the three used their Pokemon to attack as well. Morpeko was able to paralyze Centiskorch, Victor Dynamaxed his Drednaw and used its Max water move on Centiskorch, and Hop used his water move on the Centoskorch as well. The attack was able to knock out Centiskorch health with a quarter left. This made Kabu fire up with passiona and Kabu started to fight harder. Kabu used his G-Max move and used a Max move on their Pokemon, this knocked out Marnie's Morpeko and knocked out Hop's Drizzle, Victor's Dynamaxed Drednaw made it through the attack, but with only a quarter left of its health. Victor used Drednaw's Max water move and it was enough to knock out the Centiskorch as it burst into flames. The match was over and the three had won the battle. Kabu returned his Centiskorch to it's Pokeball and walked up to the three.
"I am impressed, that was an amazing battle and you three were able to win by working together, congratulations you three have advanced to the next part of the Gym Challenge, but the challenge is far from over, so continue to work as a team, and you can make it to the finals. Please take the fire badge and head to Hammerlocke that is where the next part of the challenge will begin." Kabu said, as he handed the three their badges and his league card.
The three accepted the badge and walked off the field to the locker room to change. The three walked out and saw Gloria waiting for them.
"Congratulations to you guys that was an amazing battle you really put quite a show out there." Gloria said.
"Thanks Gloria, that was a really tough battle that we endured and it really took a lot out of us." Victor said.
"I say we spend the night in the Wild Area since we have to go to Hammerlocke anyways." Hop suggested.
"That doesn't sound like a bad idea, let's go." Gloria said.
They all agreed to go to the Wild Area for the night, they traveled through the Wild Area to a location that was safe for them and close to Hammerlocke. They set up their tents and set up an area for them to eat and for their Pokemon to play around. Gloria had decided to make dinner for them on her own as a way to congratulate the other three for defeating Kabu. Hop decided to play around with his Pokemon while Victor and Marnie were chatting by the nearby pond.
"Hey so how are you feeling after that battle?" Victor asked Marnie.
"I'm feeling alright it was a tough battle, but I could surely relax after that." Marnie said, laying down on the grass.
"I feel that that was probably one of the toughest battles I've had so far, but I know that this journey is far from over." Victor said, laying right next to her.
"You are right we only beat three Gym Leaders so far and there are only five left before the finals." Marnie said.
"Yeah, so we just have to train harder than ever before and I'm sure all of us will make it to the finals." Victor said, as he sat up.
"How are you so positive all the time, even when you are in a tight corner your Pokemon always seem to find a way to overcome the challenge?" Marnie asked, as she sat up.
"Well when I was younger me and my dad would always go and sight see Pokemon in the area. I always enjoyed having Pokemon around and it just felt so calming. Whenever I got Grookey it was like he knew what I was thinking, it is the same as the other Pokemon on my team as well. I guess the reason why I'm so positive when it comes to Pokemon battles is that I always imagine myself fighting alongside my Pokemon and sometimes I feel I'm the one who is battling." Victor said.
Victor looked to his left and saw Marnie looking at him in awe. He felt that he might have confused her with his words.
"I'm sorry if I confused you, but it's just how I see things on the field." Victor said, apologizing to her.
"No, don't be, if anything that actually describes how I feel when I battle. I feel that I'm fighting alongside my Pokemon as well and I'm surprised that someone else feels the same about that." Marnie said.
"Well I guess we just feel that same connection between our Pokemon." Victor said.
The two of them were extremely close to each other. They noticed this and they both stepped back from this and they both started blushing.
"S...ooo we should get back to the others, I'm sure Gloria is finished with making dinner and Hop might see us." Victor said standing up.
"Sounds good lets go." Marnie said, as she stood up.
Victor helped Marnie up and they interlock hands. They returned to the camp not relaxing that they had been holding hands the whole time. They both realized it and they both let go before Hop or Gloria saw.
"Hey you, two dinner is ready." Gloria said.
"So anything happened between you two?" Hop asked, as he smirked.
"Nothing at all." Victor said, stuttering.
"Yeah nothing happened." Marnie said, hiding her blush.
"Whatever you two say, let's go eat." Hop said heading to the table.
The four sat down to eat Gloria's curry and as always it was very delicious and no one could talk, because they were too busy eating. As they finished they all felt relaxed from the food.
"Ah as always the curry was delicious." Hop said, plopping on the ground.
"Yep the curry is always good no matter what." Victor said.
"Alright you two lets clean up and head to sleep." Gloria said.
The four of them cleaned up the dinner table and each of them headed into their tents for the night. The next day they will head to Hammerlocke to continue their journey. Everyone was excited for tomorrow to see the new town and they were ready for the next part of their journey. Everyone was able to sleep and as for Victor and Marnie they couldn't stop thinking about each other.
