THE FIRST TIME TAY CRIED BECAUSE OF NEW

Tay was about to knock on the door when he remembered that his new best friend, Newwiee, had just given him the passcode to his condo unit.

"Take that, Jumpol. Has Newwiee told you the passcode to his unit yet? Of course not" he muttered maniacally as the door opened.

Over the past week, Tay had worn off the ears of his friends and colleagues from his constant need to boast about his recently developed friendship with New.

"Well, you know my best friend, New, went out to get those brownies for me" Tay said as Off ambled towards the table where the food was placed.

"I think he bought it for all of us. I heard him say so" Off looked unimpressed as he unceremoniously gorged on a brownie while Tay watched in disbelief.

"Yeah, but he offered it to me first," Tay insisted.

"Newwiee" Tay hollered upon entering the unit.
"Let's watch a movie. I brought the popcorn and sodas"

He heard a ruckus coming from inside the bedroom before the door opened slightly and the younger boy's head popped up from the small opening.

"I haven't finished showering yet so just set everything up. I have a few DVDs over there by the t.v."

"Okay," Tay replied cheerily.

The unit's living room was sparsely decorated: A sizable couch was placed on the wall perpendicular to the window. A cabinet housed the television, several DVDs, and gaming units. A coffee table sits at the center and was filled with a disarray of books and school papers.

Tay studied the entire living room and made up his mind to invite the younger man for a furniture shopping spree like true besties.

He made a space for their snacks on the crowded table and excitedly went through the disorganized stack of DVDs. The local movies in the selection were ones that he had already watched so he tried to look for something different.

"Hey, New! I want to watch a comedy, which one would you recommend?"

"Disney movies for me please" New replied without missing a beat.

A short while later, Tay handed the dvd he had chosen to a freshly showered New.

"There are two cute dogs in the cover. I love dogs" Tay looked excited as he set a place for New on the floor.

New looked at Tay strangely, "This one is a fox and that one is a hound," the younger one pointed at the cover.

"That is still a dog," Tay proclaimed.

Almost two hours later, Tay was bawling his eyes out.

"Why did't you tell me that this movie would be so depressing?"

"I did not find it depressing"

"You're a monster. They didn't even get to bid each other a proper goodbye"

"Goodbye may seem forever. Farewell is like the end but in my heart is a memory and there you'll always be," New recited the song from the movie which only made Tay cry harder.

New smiled fondly at him.

He is too kind.

THAT ONE TIME NEW CRIED FOR TAY

"So, how many cups of sugar do I put in again?" New and Podd pored over the directions for the cake that the former was planning to bake.

"One," Podd answered.

"Let's make it two," New nodded to himself as his friend sighed defeatedly.

"I'm not sure Tay will like it if it's too sweet"

"Well, he's not the only one who's going to eat it," New stubbornly revised the list of ingredients to his liking.

He was determined to bake the best cake for Tay.

New and Tay hardly found the time to meet over the past week as the latter had been busy preparing for a casting call for a drama.

"It's okay. I know how important this is for you and I'm really glad that you were given this opportunity. You deserve it so just do your best like always"

There was a pause from the other end of the line.

"Hello? Tay, are you still there?" New checked his phone in case the call got disconnected.

Tay sniffled, "I love you, Hin"

"Can you please stop crying at every single thing I say!" New scolded before saying, "And, I love you too"

It was Mae Yui who broke the story to New first, "Tay did not get the role"

Such simple words but New felt his heart break into tiny pieces. He unconsciously gripped the icing pipet tighter.

"Tay deserves better," he muttered to the empty kitchen after the call with Yui ended.

"Tay deserves better!" he shouted furiously.

New looked at the cake he had just baked, the big "CONGRATULATIONS" piped on top taunted him with such cruelty that it took a big effort not to throw everything in the trash.

"Let's not be wasteful," Tay would always say.

Later that evening, Tay found New standing in front of their dining table and looking at what appeared to be a cake...or what's left of it.

Upon closer inspection, Tay found that it had crumbled. It must've been a simple white cake because he could not detect any decorations in what was left of it.

"It looks delicious?" Tay carefully approached New.
In his head, he was already listing the reasons why the younger man looked mad.

He's never been jealous before so this is definitely not about Lee, or Gun, or Off, or Arm, or Joss, or Tul. Wait, could it be Tul? Or, maybe he found out that I misplaced his favorite shirt? Impossible, I bought a lot of shirts to replace that one. What could it be? What could it be?

"Are you okay? We still have time to bake a new one if you want," he added before he noticed the redness of New's face.

"Have you been crying?"

New faced his lover, "Tay, you know that I will always be proud of you. I am proud of how passionate you are with your craft, of how selfless you are with your fans, of how brave you are in fighting for your beliefs. I am so proud of everything that you are"

New was crying now.

"Okay. What exactly did I do wrong?" Tay still looked confused.

"You will never do anything wrong. You are perfect. Clumsy but perfect," New was wailing now.

"Thank you na, Hin but I'm really scared now"

"You will definitely get your time to shine and you will shine sooooo bright"

"Oh. I understand now," Tay chuckled a little.

"Thank you, Hin"
