Tay and New and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (Part 1)

Tay was in panic mode as he raced towards the elevator of his condominium building. It was just 6:00 in the morning but he was already feeling unlucky. His mind kept on replaying the phone call that led to his early morning sprint.

"Tay, your mother-in-law is calling your phone," Mae Yui shouted for him from the other side of the room.

Tay immediately felt through the pockets of his pants and realized with dismay that he has indeed left his precious phone at the make-up table where dozens of staff who had been lounging together were now looking at him teasingly.

He made a mad dash towards the group to salvage his phone away from their prying eyes.

"Good morning Mae.How are you?" Tay greeted courteously and ran away as the jeers around him grew louder.

"He called her 'Mae'," said someone.

"That's not unusual. But did you see the photo he used for her contact info?" asked another.

"What?"

"It was a picture of him and New's mother. As expected, he is so sweet to his in-laws," the other said giddily.

"Ah! Look at Tay bowing repeatedly while talking to his mother-in-law on the phone. He is just so adorable," a staff pointed at Tay gesticulating profusely at a more secluded area of the room.

Unbeknownst to them, Tay was willing to even do a full kowtow to New's mother with how their conversation was progressing.

"Hello Mae—You called the phone at my condo?—Y-yes Mae, New slept over at my place but I didn't sleep there with him because I had a shoot— Ah, I sounded defensive?— I just wanted to let you know because my intentions for New are pure and honest— Oh, am I talking too much again? I'm sorry. I'm sorry.— Yes, I'll wake New. Definitely.— Bye for now Mae— I-I love you too"

Tay called New but when he didn't answer he tried calling his home number to no avail. He had to wait for another hour before he could finally leave the filming location.

When Tay arrived at his unit, he found the other boy fast asleep in his bedroom. It took several tries before New finally stirred but even then he didn't bother to open his eyes and simply answered Tay with incoherent mumbles.

"New, this is an emergency! Your mother called me earlier looking for you. She said that she called you several times but she couldn't reach you so she called me but I was not able to receive it immediately as I was busy with the shoot and could not hear my phone ringing so she finally had to call my home number and that was when you answered the phone. Why did you answer my phone? Why? Why?" Tay raced through his words frantically as he continued shaking the unperturbed boy.

"Noishy ringing," was New's sleepy response.

"But your mother is probably thinking the worst of me right now. Her precious son slept over at his boyfriend's place and did not have the energy to answer his mother's call the next day"

New groaned, "But it's really your fault that I am this exhausted"

"True, but still-" Tay's retort was consumed by New's loud yawn as he struggled to sit upright.

"I'm up. I'm up. So, what's the real emergency apart from my mom calling you?"

Tay sighed, "Your mom wants to meet with you today.The rumors may have already reached your family and I guess they may want to clear some things with you"

There was a slight tremor in Tay's voice that New recognized immediately as fear.

"I'll just take a quick shower then we can meet her at my place. Can you please prepare a toast and coffee for me, thank you" the younger one announced as he headed for the ensuite bathroom.

"New, your mom never said that she wanted to meet with me too. I'll just wait for you here," Tay sounded more and more dejected with every word that comes out of his mouth.

"What if New's mother thinks that I only bring bad luck to his son? What if she's right? Oh no-"

"Tay, there is nothing that my mom could say to me about our relationship that she can't say in front of you" New smiled. "Plus, you know how overprotective my parents can get so I will need your support otherwise my head will explode"

He noticed how Tay lowered his head a bit and knew that the other was trying to hide a smile.

"You are so easy to please Tawan that's why I get scared that someone might try to steal you away one day," he said before entering the bathroom.

Tay's smile widened. New has always been too competitive to simply allow anyone to steal from him.
