"Hey! Danchou's here!"
Only the moonlight was shining through the windows of the abandoned building. Chrollo had told the troupe to wait for him in their hideout while he was out, saying he'd be back within the hour.
Sure enough, he was back, holding his book in one hand and a rope in the other.
Every member eyed the prisoner he'd brought back curiously, trying to make out what exactly made him worthy of capture.
"Hey! Who's the old geezer?"
"A prisoner," Chrollo answered bluntly. "Franklin, put him aside for the moment. I need him alive though, I copied his nen."
"Danchou, what will you use it for?" asked Nobunaga.
"I do not know yet."
Everyone was certainly curious now.
"I only have an hour to use it, so I have to test it out quick. The old man is mute, so he can't tell me what it's for. Apparently it's harmless, but people were ready to pay billions for it, so I took it."
"How odd," commented Pakunoda.
"If it's harmless then I'm not interested~" added Hisoka.
"No one asked you," countered Machi.
"In any case," continued the leader, "I had to capture him before some lowly gang did. His nen feels... weird."
"How are you gonna test it out, Danchou?"
"I heard a conversation someone had with his wife when I went to take him away. Apparently he can only use it on someone he cares for, so the test subject has to be one of you."
There was a brief silence, before all hell broke lose.
"What do you mean one of us?"
"Yeah, no."
"Are you sure you're thinking straight boss?"
"I vote we test it on Hisoka-"
"Danchou. No care for. Hisoka."
"How mean~"
"ENOUGH!" The black haired man yelled.
Looking at his troupe members in exasperation, he sighed. "We don't have much time, it''ll fade out from my book soon enough. I will take a volunteer."
"I'll do it."
All heads turned towards [Y/N].
At 20, she was the youngest and newest one among them. Once the troupe found out Hisoka had taken an apprentice under his wing, they took interest in her.
Chrollo knew that for Hisoka to go as far as to teach someone himself, they had to be on a whole other level of promising. Without much hesitation, they'd tatooed the side of her hip, making her a member on training terms.
She was a specialist, just like him. Instead of a book though, she had a wand, one that she used to spout out all sorts of curses. They weren't especially strong ones, but with enough training, she'd be just as valuable as them in no time.
"[Y/N]," warned Hisoka, frowning. "Don't be reckless and put yourself in danger."
"He said it was harmless," countered the young woman. "Besides, I know some of you don't trust me fully yet. I'm doing this to prove my devotion to the spider, Chrollo Danchou. So please, test it out on me."
The man smiled knowingly. "[Y/N]. I do care for you very much. I don't think anything bad will happen Hisoka, so don't worry. And if it does, I'm sure we'll find a way the fix it."
"I don't like this, but I do want her to gain your trust, so... Alright."
"Nice of you to pretend to care about her," commented Machi.
Hisoka's only reply was a warning glare.
"Well one thing's for sure: the old guy is unconscious, and we don't have time to wait for him to wake up. If we need him again, it'll have to wait for a little while," explained Shalnark.
"What do you guys think the ability is about? It must grant something to the target of it since the geezer uses it on his loved ones," added Phinks.
"It is a specialist ability, but I don't know much more about it. It's a wonder I was even able to get it with what little information I had."
The atmosphere was weary. [Y/N] got up from her seat next to Hisoka, walking towards her leader. Once she got to his level, she kneeled down, head facing the ground.
"Chrollo Danchou, I hope you see my volunteering as a token of my loyalty to the spider. Please use it whenever you're ready."
Her leader smiled at her, opening his book to the right page and raising his hand.
"You are a brave young woman, [Y/N]. Your demonstration of loyalty will make you a full-fledged member soon. Now... activate miracle worker."
Just like that, a flash of light emerged from Chrollo's hand, blinding everyone in the hideout.
When their eyes finally found their capacity to see properly again, [Y/N] was gone, leaving behind only a few pieces of shredded clothing.
