Chapter 6 - Duel of Feelings

Alice woke with tear stains on her face, something that became normal these past few days, 'This has to end' she thought. Alice then decided to march into Kirito's room, hoping he's there, and give him a piece of her mind. Once she got to Kirito's room she didn't even bother knocking and barged in. She was about to start yelling at him but the sight in front of her shut her up. Kirito and Eydis were in the same bed sleeping, and Eydis was too close for Alice's comfort.

Kirito slowly opened his eyes and leaned his head forward to see Alice in his doorway with a shocked expression. He looked at her confused then realized that there was a heavy weight on his chest. Kirito looked down and saw Eydis asleep on his chest. "Listen uh it's not what it looks like I promise" Kirito told Alice. Alice stared for a while and then ran. Kirito took off shortly after leaving Eydis just sitting wondering what just happened.

Alice didn't care where she was going she just ran. First Kirito doesn't say a word to anyone, then he goes around and only levels up, and THEN he's in bed with Eydis?!? Fed up with the number of events Alice equipped her armor and ran outside not hearing gnnnnn footsteps behind her.

In the middle of a field on floor 24

"Alice!!" Kirito yelled at her and she finally turned around, "stop running and listen to me! It's not what it looked like at all I'm telling you" "then what was it exactly then" Alice replied, "she walked out to the balcony last night while I was there and I told her I'd leave to go do some more leveling. She stopped me and gave me this big speech on how my attitude has affected everyone. It lasted so long she fell asleep so I brought her to my room and laid her on my bed, I was about to leave but she insisted I stayed because she had nightmares of me dying and so I did. That's the whole story honest" Kirito stated. Alice took it in before opening up her menu. Kirito sat there confused until a menu popped up in front of him.

*Alice invites you to a dual. Do you accept?*

Kirito looked at Alice confused. "Just because you told me the story doesn't mean I'm not mad at you...Kazuto" Alice said harshly. Kirito knew this was serious, she never used his actual name. He slowly hit the accept button and drew his sword.

The timer reached zero and they both charged at each other. Once their swords clashed every bird around took off into the sky. The force of their blades pushed them away from each other and back onto the grass but Alice took no time and immediately charged again. While Kirito was still recovering Alice got in a hit and sent him flying back even further. Kirito realized he needed to be quick on his feet, luckily he landed near a tree. Kirito sprung up and jumped to where his legs were pressed against the tree and launched off of it towards Alice. This took Alice by surprise and was expecting this movement at all and couldn't defend against it in time and took a big hit.

"Alice why are you doing this?" Kirito asked while she was getting up, "Why would I tell you?! It's not like you care about what I'm feeling!" Alice shouted back. Kirito was thoroughly confused which caused him to stop his movement, big mistake. Alice took this opportunity and dashed right towards Kirito landing a big slash across his chest. Kirito quickly adapted to the scenario and flung his sword up to block the next strike. "I don't know what you're talking about! You're my friend Alice of course I care about you!" Kirito yelled at Alice while their swords clashed against each other, "If that was even remotely true you wouldn't have let us for three days! We all care about you and want to help you! Even more so, if you cared about me you wouldn't ignore my feelings towards you!" Alice screamed back. They sent each other back a few feet and stood there before they began to charge at each other again a loud alarm went off.

*Time limit reached: Winner Alice!*

Kirito let out a long breath, relieved that this was over. 'Just my luck to deal with angry girls back to back' Kirito thought then he realized what Alice just said. 'She has feelings towards me? I thought that was us just being close friends?' Kirito though. This was confusing him greatly. "Alice...do you have feelings for me?" Kirito cautiously asked, Alice just stood there being both bewildered that he didn't know and terrified of what he would think. "I...do, I have for a while. I thought you talked to Eugeo about it?" "He might've misunderstood, see he asked if I had feelings for you and I said I wouldn't want to ruin our friendship if something bad were to happen. I think he took that as a yes judging from your reaction but I'm not saying no either, this is all sort of new to me. I've lost the only girl I've crushed on and now this is happening and it's a lot to take in. I wish I had an answer for you Alice but right now I don't." Kirito concluded, "I understand, sorry for blowing this out of proportion of thinking wronging of the situation between you and Eydis" Alice said with her head down, "hey raise your head, it's all just one big misunderstanding" Kirito said as he walked over and hugged her. They stayed like that for a while before walking back to the guild base.

"Ah Kirito, Alice, welcome back! What've you guys been up to?" Eugeo asked when he saw them come in, "oh nothing much just had a friendly duel. You and Renly about to go level?" Kirito casually responded while noticing Eugeo and Renly were armored up, "Yeah actually we are. Don't forget we promised Ronie and Tiese we'd help them tomorrow!" Eugeo said walking out with Renly. "Guess that means I can take a nap now, see you later Alice" Kirito announced while walking away. Alice was left again but not for long since Fanatio witnessed the whole thing and wanted answers. "So what really happened? I know Kirito wasn't telling the whole truth, I can read that kid like an open book" Fanatio chuckled, "Wellllll..." Alice began.

Kirito was walking back towards his room when he saw Eydis in the hallway. She noticed him as well and her faces went completely red. "Sorry I caused conflict between you and Alice, I really didn't mean anything by sleeping with you" Eydis said in a rushed matter, Kirito patted her head "Don't worry about it. We talked it over and everything's okay, now raise those spirits we've got a game to beat!" Kirito announced and continued to walk towards his room. Eydis slowly touched where he patted her head and smiled to herself.
