Fiona, a girl with light auburn hair, seemed scared, but there were arrogance and pride in her eyes, hidden deep beneath.
It wasn't some baseless pride of a noble, but the one that came with talent.
She came closer to Jay, kneeling in front of him, "Sire!!! Forgive me!!"
Jay patted her hair, chuckling, "You don't have to be so cautious." He turned to Youko, "what is her story?"
Fiona looked up in his eyes, "I was the smartest...I wanted to inherit the land, but they didn't want me to. Said it is not possible." -use magic - women had their place in society. Niverah had a queen of its own.
Fiona blankly blinked as she looked towards the floor. How come they were talking about it like she wasn't here.
"Will you tell me?" Jay asked in a convincing voice.
Fiona looked up in his eyes, "I was the smartest...I wanted to inherit the land, but they didn't want me to. Said it is not possible." -
"But there are houses with female leaders? I read it!!" Youko said excitedly.
Fiona glanced at her explaining, "that was before Uther's time and current king's reign."
"Oh, how did that change the things?"
Fiona gulped, "King Uther was against magic. He didn't want Niverah and or the Crimson Kingdom to interfere. He drove away people from the other races and thought every magician was the enemy. But his reign ended when Niverah and Crimson decided to interfere, and the new King took place." She hesitated, "The new king imposed new laws - even the woman from his armies and court are being pushed aside."
"Oh..." Jay said drinking Gin first thing in the morning.
While Fiona was stunned with the reaction, Youko snapped, "That damn incompetent king!!" She turned and pointed her finger at Jay, "and you!! What do you mean, Oh!!"
Jay turned to her, "how do you know all this?"
Fiona bit her lips, "I know one of the princesses...She informed me."
Youko felt vein popping in her forehead, but Jay's next question left her and Mirai stunned, "Is there someone called Arthur Pendragon?"
"Athur Pendragon?!!! Are we in Camelot?!!" She wasn't the only one, Mirai also stood up, thinking about it.
Fiona stared at them with a weird gaze, "There was Arthur Isengard, no Pendragon. But he is dead..."
Jay leaned against the chair, "So this world absorbed a broken fragment from Arthurian Legend."
"Really?! Will Saber be here?!!" Just the thought of her favorite anime character made her eyes shine. Saber was Youko's biggest crush.
Jay chuckled, "I doubt that since Arthur was a crown prince and all. But it makes me curious if the prince blessed by the fragment of the Arthurian legend ...we might see him again."
Fiona stayed quiet, not asking questions, which made Jay pat her head, "You really are smart."
"Sire?" She spoke in a tiny voice.
"You want to do better work than being a maid?"
"Yes, Sire!"
Jay picked her up, whispering in her ears, "come to see me tonight, and I'll think about it."
Fiona had a big blush on her face, but biting her lips, she spoke, "Yes, Sire."
After she left, Youko and Mirai watched him with eyes that said he was scum.
