You made sure that everything was perfect, you were very tense and I remember you made so many mistakes at dinner. But at the end of the night we were having the time of our lives.

It was 5:30 and I waited by my window to see Clay drive up. That's when the nerves started to kick in, I started to pace and make sure I fixed every flaw I saw.
What if he thinks I look gross? What if I say the wrong thing? Will he want to go on a second-

A knock at the door interrupted my thoughts, I opened the door shaking and I see Clay standing there with a small smile on his face. He had a nice button up shirt and his hair was combed perfectly.

"Hey, Clay."
"Hey, George. Are you ready to go?"
"Yep, and where are you taking me?" I asked.
"It's a surprise."
"A surprise?"
"Yeah, it won't be a date if you don't think I'm kidnapping you." He laughs.

We walk out of my apartment and head to his car, he opens the door and I head in. He starts to drive, and I can tell he's a little nervous. He's gripping the steering wheel a little tighter than normal. After a few minutes of driving, we then arrive at the restaurant. It looked like a very nice restaurant on the outside, I stood in awe of how nice it was.

"Are you hungry?" Clay asks. I nod my head and we head inside. Clay says we have a reservation and we are both follow the waitress. The restaurant was dimly lit by some light fixtures that look like chandeliers, there were many shades of red that complimented the gold that was scattered all around the place. We eventually got seated into a booth and handed some menus.

I grabbed mine and started to look at it, everything that was on it looked so delicious. I could feel my mouth water as I was reading the different entrees. I hear a little laugh and I look up to see Clay staring at me and then immediately looking down at his menu.

"What?" I ask.
"Oh, just you being you."
"Me being myself?"
"Yeah, it's adorable." I could feel my stomach erupt in butterflies and I immediately looked back down at my menu. Once we put in our order, I see Clay staring at me again.

"You like to doze off, don't you?"
"Doze off? No, I love looking at pretty people."
"Oh, stop."
"I'm telling you, you have pretty privilege."
"Ha ha very funny."
"Laugh all you want, I'm just being honest."
I clear my throat.

"So, were you born in New York?"
"No actually, I lived in Florida my whole life, and to be honest; It got really boring there and I moved and found a job working with code. What about you?"
"I lived in the UK my whole life, New York was actually the first place I visited when I first came to the States. I remember I told my mom that I'm going to move here one day and look where we are." I laugh. "I found a job in marketing and it was such a terrible job, the co-workers sucked ass, and my boss made my life a living hell. So I'm so glad I met you and learned code."
"Clay coming in for the clutch."
I laugh. "You're such an idiot."

Our food came out and we continued to talk about our lives and get to know each other more. He told me about his family and his cat Patches, and I told him about my family and how I want a cat. We finished dinner and he paid the bill for us.

We go out of the restaurant and head to his car.

"Thank you for paying."
"Of course." He starts his car. "I don't want this night to end just yet."
"What are you suggesting."
"I wanna take you somewhere I'll think you'll like." I raise an eyebrow. "I promise."
"I'm starting to think that you are kidnapping me."
"I may or may not, but you'll never know until it happens."

He started to drive away from the restaurant and it was a bit of a longer drive, and then we finally showed up to a beach.

"A beach?"
"Yep, this is the first place I came to when I first moved to New York." I get out of the car and take off my shoes and socks and Clay does too. We both go onto the sand and near the water.

The reflection of the moon was laying on top of the water, but the ripples of the ocean distort the image of it on the water. I put my feet into the water and watched the waves crash against my ankles. I heard Clay laugh then I felt water hit my side.

"Clay!" I yell. I start to splash water at him and we both are laughing. We start getting closer to splash each other and ruin our clothes.

I start to fall back, and Clay wraps his arms around my waist to catch me. We stop laughing, and he just looks at me with a want in his eyes, and he knows I want it too. I cup his cheek and we both lean in and connect our lips. It was soft and passionate. He pulls away and I start to smile and blush. He starts to stroke my cheek.

"Tonight was so fun."
"It really was." I say laughing.

We eventually went on our 3rd then our 5th date, we hung out, we went on dates, and just being the couples we always imagined.
