Chapter 33: What now?

TAEHYUNG'S POV

~Flashback~
She's still there hugging herself; eyes looking at me with longing. And the words that went out of her mouth turned my world upside-down, because I know that truth is right before my eyes.

"I'm already dead Taehyung."

~Present~

I sat there at the cold pavement trying to process what just happened. Loriel kept quiet and walked towards me; I didn't even flinch when she crouched down in front of me. Being scared was the least feeling that I can have right now. But, I do feel pained of how things really are.

I have so many questions that I wanted to ask. I want to get mad at myself for coming too late. I want her to yell at me and tell me that I shouldn't have let her go. There were so many hows and whys that I what to blurt out, but there were none that came out. Just the sound of the cold breeze filling in our silence.

My eyes searched her face. She looked pale, lips almost purple-blue, but she's still the same beautiful girl that I fell in love with. It's just that she looked like she's in so much pain that I want to urge myself to hug her; sadly, I know that I can't.

"T-Tae..." She muttered.

"You n-never forgot, didn't you?" I spoke solemnly. She just nodded in reply and I sighed.

"You just didn't want to tell me." I whispered out.

"T-Taehyung I'm so s-sorry." She sobbed. The next thing I know I was crying hard. Almost as if I couldn't breathe.

"I love you." I gasped out still finding it hard to breathe from all the crying. But I at least wanted to say it. Loriel lost her balance and fell on her knees crying hard, shaking and muttering a series of 'sorry' and 'I love you too'. Just when I thought nothing can get worse than her forgetting me. This is just too fucked up.

"How-- How did it happen?" I asked. I really wanted to know.

Loriel froze on her spot and lifted her face enough to look my way. She bit her lip and replied, "I d-don't know."

"Cut the crap Loriel! TELL ME!" I yelled. I can't control how frustrated I am. I HAVE TO KNOW!

"I swear Tae, I don't know. I really do not know!" She said to me almost begging me to believe her.

"THEN HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE DEAD?!? I CAN'T DEAL WITH THIS! PLEASE TELL ME THAT THIS IS A JOKE!" I was losing my mind knowing that I can't do something about this.

"Taehyung if I knew, I would have taken you to my body for you to believe me!" She replied, seemingly as frustrated as I was. My eyes brimmed with more tears seeing that cannot help her right now.

"I-I looked for you. I've made myself better. I went here to find you..." I try to gulp down the lump that was forming in my throat but it was no use. "I wanted to-- to bring you back." I whispered out like a prayer.

"I wanted to come back." She said. "I really do. You don't know how much I scolded myself for leaving you but I have to. You know I do." She added. She came closer and tried to reach out her hand to my face, almost immediately I leaned to her touch, but it was no use, her hand just went through. "Fuck." She cursed out and curled her hand into fist.

"When I saw you the first time I wanted to hug you. God, I really do. You don't know how much I longed for your warmth. I wanted to run to you, hug you and kiss you, but knowing that I can't; it breaks my heart into pieces. And I don't want to drag you into my mess." She explained controlling her emotions.

"I don't care. I want to be involved. I'm your boyfriend!" I retaliated.

"WE BROKE UP TAEHYUNG!" She snapped at me.

"AND I DIDN'T AGREE ON THAT! I WANTED TO TAKE YOU BACK!"

"BUT HOW? How Taehyung?" Her lips are trembling as she spoke those words that shut me up completely. What now?

I looked up at the sky and saw how dark it had been, but the stars kept shinning despite being surrounded by that darkness. Like an endless pit where you can't find a way out, but there is that glimmer of hope inside you that you kept holding onto.

"I can't give up on you." I said softly. I looked down and face her completely determined to be with this woman I call 'mine'. "Loriel, I will NOT give up on you." She cried silently, but her eyes never left mine.

"We will figure this out. You not leaving this earth may be the clue that you still have a chance at life." I reasoned out. "YOU might not be DEAD yet." I added.

"Tae I can't follow. How the hell would that be possible?" She asked tiredly.

"Then why would the heavens bother to make us meet if we don't have the chance to make this work?" I told her. This took her full attention and as if the total darkness she was in is suddenly filled with light. Then, unexpectedly she lips formed in a soft smile.

"You say the cheesiest bullshit, I swear." She humored, still crying though.

"And your lips bloomed with flowers every time you curse." I joked. We burst out into giggles.

"This is crazy." She sighed out. "We've been crying, to fighting, and now we are laughing. This is fucked up." She chuckled.

"We just have to suck it up then." I grinned and got serious. "I swear we will find out what happened to your body. I know this is not the end yet, trust me Loriel." I told her.

"I trust you." She said firmly. "I love you Taehyung."

"I love you too." I replied, genuinely my lips formed into a relieved smile.

"Now what?" She asked. Looking around the street we are in. Honestly, it looks like a place no one would try to lurk in at night.

"We go home." I chuckled. She looked at me incredulously. "Where is home?" She laughed.

"I would have said something cheesy like 'Home is where your heart is' but I decide against and just tell you to come back with me at the hotel." I replied making her laugh. "Besides how will they know that there is a guest?" I winked at her, she laughed even more.

"Gosh your mind is just WOW Mr. Kim." She replied with much sarcasm. I grinned and stood up. I offered her a hand and smacked my forehead remembering how dumb I am for doing so.

"Sorry." I muttered. "Nah it's okay." She smiled and stood up on her feet.

"Let's go?" I asked and she nodded in reply. With that we looked for our way back to the hotel. We don't know what will happen from here on out, but knowing Loriel is still with me I think everything will turn out fine.
