TAEHYUNG'S POV
"Holy Shit!"
Yes, I was shocked to see her hiding behind the tree. But I didn't expect this reaction either. Is she okay?
"Hey." I mumbled lowly. As if snapping out from a trance, the girl in front of me stood up immediately; getting out of balanced in the process. My eyes widened at the scene. I was about to catch her frail form, but to my surprise she flinched away from me and fell face first. "Ahh fuck! My nose!" She groaned in pain. Oh sh*t! *panic intensifies*
"O-Oh my god! Are you o-okay?!?" I shrieked and scrambled down towards her.
"Don't fucking touch me!" She yelled crawling away from me, making me feel a pang in my chest. My hand fell at my sides knowing she doesn't want to be held nor touched. She looked me with guilt in her eyes and looked away immediately, biting her lip.
"O-Oh I'm s-sorry-- I didn't--" I stumbled with my words, not knowing what to say at this tensed atmosphere. She cleared her throat and stood up, but didn't even spare me a glance.
"Uhmm... I'm okay mister. Just go." She said softly, her voice a bit shaky.
"L-Loriel--" I tried calling out to her. She looked at me with a tensed look and spoke.
"Don't call me that." She spat. "I told you I don't know you. You've got the wrong girl!" She said firmly. I don't believe it. I'm leaving you alone now that I've found you.
"I'm not wrong." I replied, confidence slowly building up inside me. "I c-can't be wrong. I k-know it's you." I added. I took a step closer, but she took one step back.
"I can't be the only Loriel here. There's thousands of people--" She tried defending herself, but I decided to cut her off mid-sentence.
"But there's only one you." I replied. Suprisingly, sure of myself and unterrified knowing that the're no mistake. These word caught her off guard. She tried to form words from her mouth, but none came out.
"The Loriel I know ha-has a mole at the back of her neck, another a-at the the front of her ri-right leg, and one on her left arm." I let the words flow out of my mouth as I remembered the memories I have of her.
"Sh-She curses a lot when she's around her f-friends and becomes a bit shy and decent w-when she's with someone she doesn't know well." I added. I looked at her and saw that she's finally looking straight at me. I missed those brown eyes.
"She lo-loves pets and wants to meet yeotan when I finally i-introduce her with my Mom." I chuckled. The words freely come out now, I think I can even avoid the stutters since I want her to see how hard I worked for her to see me now.
"She loves to go to arcades and get into fights for the people she care about." I slowly took a step forward. "She loves to cuddle and eat strawberry flavored bubblegum." While talking, I took another step and continued to do so, until I am only a step a way from her. Our eyes never leaving each other.
"I was her first for many things and so is she. We sang a lot and she wants me to get through my speech deficiency." A smile form from my lips as I see her eyes brimmed with tears.
"She love my stutters. She thinks they're cute. But when my stammer goes away, her eyes always brimmed with tears of happiness; especially when I call her by her name." She was sobbing now.
"Loriel. I missed you." Her name spilled out like it's the most natural thing that to say.
"P-Please... S-Stop." She cried out in plea, but I didn't.
"If you really don't know me, why does your tears speak with familiarity? Maybe you don't know me, but your heart does." I told her with all sincerity for what I feel right now.
"Y-You can't he-help me." Her voice quivering as tears continued to run down her cheeks.
"I can." I said firmly. "And I would do anything to help." I added. My heart started beating uncontrollably as my vision caught her lips. "If by then I still can't make you remember-" I looked at her straight in the eyes and spoke softly. "Then I'll just have to make you fall in love with me again."
She looked astonished by my words that she frozed up in her place. Our eyes are filled with emotioned needed to be poured out, but none of us spoke in that silence. We didn't even realized how much time passed since we saw each other behind this old oak tree.
I wanted to kiss her, but I had to restrain myself from touching her because she might fled away again. As if my doubts was playing with me she spoke.
"I-- I have to go. I'm sorry." She then turned around and walked away. I felt myself deflate bit by bit when I heard her words, but I ran up to her.
"Please Loriel. Gi-Give me chance. I promise I'll help you remember." I begged, and went down on my knees making her stop from her tracks.
"Please don't do this." She sobbed softly. Her voice loud and clear since we're the only ones here at the moment.
"J-Just give me a chance. P-Please! I d-don't want to l-lose you again." This time my eyes are getting blurry, tears rolled down my cheeks slowly. I'm absolutely terrified that she'll decline, but I can back out now.
I started crying harder, as silence surround us again. That confidence I had earlier is completely dimmed down. I'm just simply scared of what will happened next. I looked down and closed my eyes tight.
"Get up." My eyes shot open and I looked up to see her gazing at me. I didn't stand though and I won't unless she says what I want to hear from those lips.
She breathed in and sighed. "Okay. I'll give you a chance just get up." She says. As if I could finally breath again I sighed in relief and wiped my tears. They kept coming, but I tried to hold it in.
"S-So will I see you a-again?" I asked. She nodded making me give her a childish smile despite my tear-stained face. "I'll see you here at the park tomorrow." She says and started to walk away.
"I'll ha-hail you a cab!" I exclaimed. I raised my hand and tried calling for one that was at the other end of the street.
"NO! I'm fine! I don't need a cab. I'm just living nearby." She replied hastily. I feel a bit weary, but nodded in agreement.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I smiled nervously. And for the first time since I saw her again a small smile formed on her lips as she says. "Yeah. See you."
With that she continued heading home. I stood there and think of what just happened. I feel myself relax as the cold wind in the night blew softly on my skin.
"I guess I'm back at one, huh?" I said to myself, but happiness bubbling up inside me.
