Chapter 12- Beta Alexine

I made my way to the gym, where it had been converted into an auditorium. Everyone sat in a semicircle around Brett and Eddy. I sat down with my family, waiting for the others to arrive.

"Good morning fellow Twosetters," began Brett. A chorus of good mornings resounded across the auditorium.
"Today, we are announcing at our beloved Beta, Sophie, will be stepping down. Sophie is the future Luna of the Aurantiaco Pack." said Eddy. Everyone's eyebrows raised.
[None of the girls even want to be a beta.] said Maria in the mind-link.
[I can't, I have pups on the way.] André said.
[I can't ricochet, no way.] mumbled Maxim. We laughed.
[Nigdy, nie przyciągniemy uwagi naszej starej sfory, co spowoduje naszą śmierć!] Yuli, Jani, and Rafał said in unison. I took some paper and wrote down what they said. I'll translate it later. Yep, I know Polish as well, I just don't know what they said but I can transcribe it.
[I hated the delta responsibility at Silver Clouds, surprise surprise! So, I will most definitely hate being a beta,] grumbled Theo.
[I don't think they want a mateless wolf wrecking havoc] mentioned Emerson.
[Well, Delta Ray is, so far, mateless, and he doesn't cause havoc.] I replied. [Besides, why are all of you doubting yourselves?]
Our Alphas' next words took everyone by surprise, including me.
"Alexine Chen, please make your way to the front."
Yet, their reaction was even more surprising.
They cheered!
Brett quieted them down. "You or me?" he asked Eddy. "You," Eddy said. "To help you understand why we chose Alexine, I will replay my memories."
Yes, they were really unconventional. I mean, you don't always have to be traditional, eh?
A window appeared in the air in front of everyone. Brett began playing the Aurantiaco fights. "Hold up, what did you administer to the Aurantiaco alpha?" questioned Charles. "It is a special liquid that flushes out silver and wolfsbane. It also speeds up healing. The Lunsolae warriors injected him with an extremely large amount of extremely concentrated wolfsbane." Charles shuddered at the mentioned of wolfsbane.
Brett continued playing the memory. I saw myself defending Nicolette, saving Luna Katelyn from some very sacrilegious-looking wolves, then ending the Lunsolae alpha, future alpha, Beta, and backup. "We were notified that the new alpha of Lunsolae is Clarimond Liao. He snagged the alpha position right after Alexine killed Anton Schoenberg. Also the original beta is Kraven Liao and his brother is the one who snagged the alpha position. Clarimond has a son, Dennis Liao, and the new Beta is Randall Liebermann. Kraven didn't have a mate."
"So the rightful alpha is Alexine?" asked Maria.
"Correct. But remember, she will be the Beta of this pack. Let's not reminder her about Silver Clouds." Alicia grumbled something imperceptible before retreating to the back of my mind.
"First, she really fits the job. She's an excellent fighter from what I saw." said Andre. "Second, she has great knowledge of how to combat silver and wolfsbane." continued Helene. "And she's a Musical." added Benjamin.
"Meeting adjourned. Alexine and her family please report to my office." Eddy called out.

In the Alpha's office, we all sat down. With great reluctance, Theo left the room, as this was only more "immediate" members of the family. Brett began. "As you already know, we want Alexine to be our Beta. Do any of you object?" We all shook our heads. "I'll need you to sign this sheet, since Alexine just turned 18." My mom and dad sign the sheet. "Plus, the Queensland Alpha's convention is coming up. It is being held at Hyacintho Pack this year, which is just on our Northeast border. It is a strong pack and not prone to attacks, so it is quite safe. It is from April 15 to 19." Mom looked at Dad, who nodded. "She has our permission to go."
"Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Chen." said Eddy.
"Just call me Clara-"
"and me Evertt-"
"-and can you reach out to Silver Clouds and ask if Darren Zhu, Marina Lao, and Felicity Zhu are still there? Darren is my younger brother."
"I will." said Brett.
"Do you mind if we have twenty minutes to talk to Alexine alone?" My parents, Belle and Ems exited the office. Brett handed me a sheet about the Alpha's convention.

~Every year, all alphas in one state gather at a specific alpha's pack, organized by the Australian Supernatural's Council. This council consists of werewolves, witches, vampires, dragons, shapeshifters, and sirens.
There is an annual alpha's convention in each state: Northern territory, Southern Australia, Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland. There is a rule that if you have gone to this convention twice in a row already, you may skip going for a maximum of three years. Then you have to start going again. New packs established in a recent three years must go for at least three years.~

"For example, we has already gone for two years. We have one more year, where we will bring you, then we will take a break for three years before going again." Eddy explained. "I see."

~To know if they are on the council, they have the title of Lady or Lord. If they are a Leader (aka they have more say) they get the title of Elder AND lady/lord. Below is a list of supernaturals on the council. (For the sake of convenience we did not put 'Lady' or 'Lord' for every person, we only indicated if they were an Elder or not.)
