Chapter 2 - Siblings' Visit

After eating an apple and some rice cakes, I went upstairs to take a shower. My siblings would be here soon, but thankfully I did not have that much homework. Jessie and I decided to do the homework together and at 6 o'clock, she went back home. Now I was waiting for Isabelle and Emerson to come home. My mom told me they would be here in a few minutes.

"Lex!!"

"Belle! Ems!" (Belle is Isabelle's nickname and Ems is Emerson's)

"How is everything???"

"Not much has happened for me, Jessie found her mate but that's about it, although there are giant conflicts they need to resolve."

"That sounds like some iNtErEsTiNg drama! Same for us, not much has happened." Belle said. "You did not mention anything about finding your mate." Ems said.

"You struck a nerve Ems! Anyway, I have not found him yet. Perhaps I was too engrossed in books and music to forget why you guys were coming to visit!"

"Opps, sorry about that poor nerve! Due to intense classe and mountains of work, we could not plan anything for you." Ems said. Yet there was something in his voice that told me otherwise, but I did not think about it.

Then Belle took a deep breath and said something we all weren't expecting. "I found my second chance mate and he did not reject me. His name is Theo and he is two years older than me. And- he is Jordan's cousin."

"Congrats on finding your mate! And what does him being Jordan's cousin have anything to do with me?" I inquired suspiciously.

"Umm... you will see. Save that for later-"

"Lex! Belle! Ems! Dinner is ready!" yelled our mom.

We ran over to the dining room. My mom made pasta with mushrooms and added cabbage on the side. She said it looks more colourful. Over the dinner table Dad talked about the Alpha Robert. Belle and Ems did not know much about the Alpha despite being older than me because back then they simply did not pay much attention to him. In addition, they were studying at the University of Sydney.

The alpha's true colours did not show until I turned 16, and I never went to train because I could not let anyone see my wolf. During that year when I was 16, my sister was 18 and was rejected by her mate, the then-delta's son. The then-delta, Cole Zhang, and Belle's mate, Dominic Zhang, died in a massive rogue attack the next year.
The alpha confronted us about why I was not training. My parents simply stated that they did not want me to go until I had my wolf because I played piano and pianists despise injuries. The alpha narrowed his eyes and said that we were lying. Well, we asked him how do you know? I said I could not shift yet. He was enraged and even dragged me outside to cross-question me. Then Luna Lucia had to come over and drag him back to his office. She knew my secret but she never told anyone. Lucia always felt like she needed to protect me. The alpha interrogated his own mate in front of the entire pack. She denied knowing anything about my wolf and why I never went to training. My family would train me instead. I was able to defend myself and even shamed him in front of the whole pack for attacking and questioning an innocent pup.

The next year, Alpha Robert and Jordan began acting very hostile towards us, but Lucia disapproved of the hostility and always came to our rescue. Since the alpha was rude to us all the time, the popular pack members followed suit. This led to my brother's rejection. Although I always felt it was my fault for his rejection, his mate was one of those extremely fake girls with six inches of makeup plastered on her face. Emerson never minded, it seemed as though the rejection did not really affect him. So that was a good riddance.

After Ems' rejection, people started calling our family worthless and useless since my siblings had both been rejected. We ignored them. Eventually they stopped, but now the eyes are on me. I will be meeting my mate very soon. Why do these high-schoolers thirst for gossip so much? It is very annoying but there is nothing I can do about it.

Now back to present time, the alpha is still pressuring me to shift and train. It is so irritating and he still thinks we are lying. He even accused us of spying and a whole lot of other ridiculous claims that can't be proven. Luna Lucia has to step in all the time and as my birthday approaches, the alpha keeps trying to encroach in everything I do. At every noon and evening, he knocks on our door and starts accusing us all over again until Luna Lucia drags him away. We must keep our walls up to block Alpha Robert's angry mindlinks. Now we haveto resort to texting each other. I evade him as much as I can, and sometimes I have to mask my scent. Alicia and I are really exasperated.

I always feel like the alpha wants to kick us out of the pack, but he doesn't have any reason to. Luna Lucia told me once that keeping the her mate's actions in check is getting really hard. It's not getting out of hand yet but it is definitely bothersome.

When we finished dinner, Belle, Ems and I helped Mom wash the dishes, then sat in our living room and did some homework. Tomorrow was my birthday, but instead of feeling excited, I felt strange. Alicia was terrifyingly quiet. She never acted like this before.
