"yes, call me when you're arriving", hinata murmured and put his phone down as the male on the other line hung up after nodding silently, acknowledging what the orange head lastly said.

-

pain. it was simply paining hinata to the point he regretted texting the black haired male that one day until he finally understood hinata's and kageyama's conditions and relations. it was paining hinata to know he desperately had to dm a friend of kageyama to make him jealous by pretending to be boyfriends with the germaphobe.

sakusa gave in to the pleadings of hinata, admittedly enjoying the feeling of being helpful in situations that could build up friendships (hahaha i'm just joking, daddy chill 🥶). sakusa basically gave in because he knew kageyama could destroy such a close friendship this easily with no words and no interactions, just past words, misery and apologies nobody has received in the end.

-

after panicking and disorientating uncountable times, hinata finally got the right subway to kageyama's hometown which was awfully relieving to acknowledge.

as he sat down in the subway, he sighed dramatically and fished his phone out of the back pocket of his jeans. the screen lit up and he unlocked the devise with the date he first met kageyama (y'all thinking he chose kags' bday but ur wrong 😩) which was meaning awfully much to him. who knew kageyama posted a stupid story of him arriving at the meetup place of his fan meeting with the exact location linked just small enough for hinata to recognize in the top right corner of his screen.

"nononono shitty instagram- don't just- i didn't wanna report himmmm!", he panically exclaimed as his fingers moved as fast as possible to avoid being the reason why instagram took down his crush's account. finally, after this little accident, he sunk even deeper into the seats of the subway and silently prayed to the crush lords up there for forgiveness.

after at least 15 minutes of the subway ride, he arrived at the destination he wanted to meet up with sakusa and looked around for a tall male with an unnoticeable mask covering his face, dark locks makin his otherwise bold appearance seem softer and onyx eyes with a little glint reflecting in those.

as he finally spotted sakusa, the latter tried socializing a little and even let hinata hook their arms together. "is there any reason to do this so obvious in public?", sakusa groaned and ran his clean and delicate fingers through thick locks of ebony curls.

"it's kageyama's home town so duh, he even stated in his insta story that he's gonna be giving signatures to fans in some moments", hinata laughed sheepishly as he scratched the back of his neck.

"you must really love him, am i right?", sakusa mused as he smiled mischievously underneath the dark mask of his.

yes.

why couldn't hinata say this simple word out loud? as if somebody's sipped his mouth shut, he remained awfully silent, knowing this word was probably paining him more than he knew.

the silence lingered in the air after sakusa voiced out the question and held on for seemingly too long to not be awkward. breaking the silence, hinata coughed and sheepishly looked sideways as his fist still covered his nose and mouth.

"there he is."
