ever since the fan meeting, sakusa and hinata interacted more and eventually got to pass the level "fake boyfriends ain't even kinda friends" to "fake boyfriends but they're kinda good friends now".

after they've parted their ways and hinata arrived at home, he plopped himself onto the king-sized bed his mother once bought him to build in his new room after moving away.

thoughts ran wild in his head and he grunted in annoyance to block away any kind of distraction in that moment. from "has kageyama texted yet?" to "what if he actually felt pressed to communicate with us back then?" and eventually a load of "he might hate me for blocking him and suddenly appearing on that fan meeting". everything ran around rent free in his head and he just couldn't control negative thoughts from pushing away the forcingly good ones. (damn just reread this and i think i might have a satisfying way of writing?-)

his fingers glided across the bed sheets (no this isn't gonna be a nsfw scene ew) and he thought about kageyama. their embraces, their held gazes and lastly the way he could turn those cold and lost eyes into a place hinata felt home at. finally reaching the source of painful answers he's sought for, the device was held tightly in his grip as he watched the screen turn bright and the florescent light blind him a little. too tired for the bullshit he'll come across, his thumb lazily swiped down to reveal the messages he's received over the fan meeting and the drive home.

he knew his time was practically wasted, thrown away just because he has a stupid crush on his best friend but he simply couldn't help it.

he couldn't help the thoughts of the ravenette chuckling at the high attempts his fans made to impress him, the way he smiled at all those people, the way he genuinely could drop the ginger completely and become a damn model for companies and everything around eventually.

his mind ran back to the notifications. one click and he's know if kageyama had responded or not (there wasn't really anything to respond so why should he actually message hinata? pfft) but was this one click worth it? he knew it'd be the possibility of destroying his whole day or completely enlightening it by simply paying attention to somebody who's stupidly fallen for him.

but crushes don't work this way, do they? could hinata just hire somebody to invent something that might just get called kageyama-but-slightly-less-oblivious-tobio-2212 ?

hinata internally gave himself a bitch slap for letting his mind wander around again as he FINALLY, FINALLY looked at the notifications he's been flooded with from various apps like messenger, instagram and discord.

from yamaguchi posting pictures with tsukishima to kageyama thanking everybody who appeared on the fan meeting in his story and even tanaka spamming him messages. between the sloppily written phrases and keyboard smashes there has been one message that particularly caught his focused eye.

"were you with that kiyoomi guy?"
