Marissa's POV
When everyone left and the kids were tucked in. His deep breathing and tough hold couldn't get me to sleep. I slithered out his arms and downstairs walking deep through the house. I made a couple of turns making my way to my office. In the desk were my mothers diarys. "October 1, 1999
My dearest child you were born to be a star.
Your ex boyfriend was your best friend when you were 5 me and his mother had a confrontation causing me to move to Michigan for me not wanting to be in jail. If you read this at a deep point in your life please know I only wanted what was best for you and me.
Love, mommy."
I read it over and over until a sleepy but, deep voice caused me to look up. "Marissa what are you doing up?" I stuggled to explain that I couldn't sleep due to needing answers and my head and heart hurt. "I couldn't sleep." "Your mothers journal." He said reading the cover. "Our mothers had a fight and my mom moved us apart in spite." I said holding my head. "You need a alieve or something?" "No. Just you." I said turning off the lamp. We walked to the living room and laid on the couch. We filled up the air mattress and laid with each other. "I love you." He said putting his chin on my head. I sniffed a little air before responding. "I love you too." The cold air against my skin felt good to the stuffed nose I had and the warm sweat that made my hands clammy.
When I woke up it was 2:45pm and the house was dead silent. I stood up slowly and grabbed a note that was on the TV.
Marissa, I went to the store with the kids so you could sleep in so I'll be back around 3. I ran upstairs and grabbed my phone. "Marshall." "What's up?" "I'm about to get out for the day so I'm not going to be here when you get back." "You know where your goin'?" "To visit family in New York." "The entire day?" "Yeah." I said packing up a bag. "Okay. I love you be safe." "I will." I said zipping up the bag. He hung up giving me time to get dressed and buy a ticket for 4 clock. I got ready and drove straight to the airport catching my plane a minute before the gates closed. Less than a hour later I arrived being met by 50. "CURTIS!" I shouted hugging him. "MARISSA!" He smirked hugging me back. "You told Marshall you were coming for family so I firgured me. "HELL YEAH. My favorite cousin in the universe!" I said rushing to the truck. "I left your room the same way you left it." "MY TEDDY BEARS! DRIVE FASTER CURTIS!" I shouted. "You wearin' contacts?" "Yeah I wanted blue today. I prefer my own color." "You need to be down here more with the kids. I got my son today." He said as we pulled up to his house. "I just needed to get away from that house man." I said walking up the driveway with him. "Why?" "We went through storage and it brought mixed emotions. We didn't realize we knew each other in the 80's." "Grandma told me how she knew you would find out and didn't think you'd take it so well." "Can I see the room Curtis?" "It's yours cousin." I walked up the stairs stopping where I could see him but, he couldn't see me. "Yo Em.... She's fine...... My cousin is stronger than you think......She went to her old room..... Go ahead and call..... Bye." By that time I had laid my stuff down in the room and was in my thoughts. I answered my phone listening to Marshall's worries. "Babe I'm fine." I said curling myself in a ball. After a long ass talk we agreed to meet each other tomorrow at the airport and go on a date. Curtis came in with two journals. "Mom's and Marshall's mom." He said putting it in my bag.
