Chapter 13

Ben's POV:

Everly soon fell asleep and we were once again left in silence. Aiden was the most pissed at Elijah and Austin and I were still giving him the silent treatment.

"Ben, I really need to talk to you." Elijah whispered.

"I don't care." I grumbled as I carried on scrolling through Instagram.

"Ben, if you don't come with me now then Aiden will know what I have to say. We don't need that right now. He's still a kid." Elijah said and quickly grabbed my attention.

I narrowed my eyes at him and stood up with him following close behind.

"I'll be back. She won't be awake for a couple hours. Call me if you need anything or if anything happens." I told Aiden and Austin as I walked out of the room with Elijah following close behind.

I led Elijah to a spare room near Everly's and left the door slightly open. 

"Speak." I said bluntly with my arms crossed.

"Yesterday I left both of them alone because Maddison called me." He stated.

"If that's your good excuse then I'm genuinely worried for you." I said angrily.

"Let me finish." He said with a sigh.

"The only reason I'm even dating Maddison in the first place is because I've been trying to track down David and we have him. Maddison was in the same rehab and psych facility as him and she helped him escape. I managed to get into her head and tell me about David's whereabouts and plans. He thinks we moved away to another state so we're safe by the way. Anyway, when Maddison called me the other she told me she wanted to meet David because he was her friend and all that bullshit. I obviously agreed, I had the chance to get rid of the bastard once and for all and I took it. And I would take it again. I met up with him and immediately cuffed him and threw him in my car. Both him and Maddison are in prison. He has a court date set for Monday, where we are supposed to testify. I spoke to the lawyer and he said that me you and Austin will be enough proof to put him away. For a long ass time. We're not involving Aiden and Everly." He said all in one go.

It took a good five minutes for me to fully process what Elijah had just said. The three of us were already trying as hard as we could to find him without making it obvious. Elijah clearly went the extra mile to make sure he was gone and now he was. All the court needed were our statements.

"So he'll be gone. For good?" I asked for confirmation.

"Yes Ben, that's why I've been MIA for so long. And the only reason why I involved myself with Maddison in the first place." He sighed as he leaned back in the chair.

"I'm still pissed that you didn't tell me sooner. I'm supposed to be looking after you guys. Not the other way around." I said as I ran a hand through my hair.

"Ben, I'm not a kid anymore, I'm an adult and it's my job to help you. You need me and Austin just as much as we need you." Elijah said as he stood up and put a hand on my shoulder.

Without wasting another second I pulled him into a tight hug.

"I'm sorry for being such a prick." I mumbled.

"I'm sorry for being such a prick too." He said with a chuckle.

Just as we pulled away I heard Alex shout.

"GET ME A CRASH CART IN HERE RIGHT NOW!" He yelled as he ran into Everly's room.

Excuse me what! In fucking Everly's room?! NO!

Elijah and I sprinted as fast as our legs could take us to Everly's room. I could feel my heart ready to get ripped out of my chest.

The two of us pushed past the nurses and stared at what was in front of us in complete shock.
