"Let me go!" Amaris snarled to the Lycan guard nearby as she pulls and tugs the chain that binds her and restrains her. However, she can't move so much because of her injury on the left leg. "The alpha will arrive shortly. Wait and rest." The guard responded. Amaris slumped on the floor, helpless and worried about Lexer. The sound of a lady's heels draw closer as it resounds in the hallway.
"I trusted you, dear Amaris." Delaneia frowned. "I have nothing to tell you, alpha. Go back to your throne." Amaris hanged her head low. Delaneia crouched in a graceful way to meet Amaris' level. She grabbed her chin and gently pushed it upwards so Amaris can look at her.
"I hope you do not forget that I am the one who made you a Lycan. You should follow my commands." Delaneia said but Amaris remained silent and she looked away.
Delaneia let go of her and stood up. "Were you really on the scene when Dracyian was struck with that so-called powerful roar?" The queen asked. The young Lycan kept her silence. "If you are there and you are unharmed, does that mean that the Ailuran spared you? What are you to her for you to be spared by such a monster?" Delaneia asked but Amaris kept her mouth shut, even if she wanted to snap back.
Delaneia lost her patience with Amaris' silent treatment.
"Keep her here. Torturing here will be no use. However, she would be a great bait soon." Delaneia said to the Lycan warrior that guards the dungeon before walking away.
...
Zarina's phone buzzes as she walks with Merlara and Matrius towards her apartment. The sun is starting to descend and the moon rises.
"Kiara: I'm sorry for what happened lately."
"Zarina: Forget it. I'd rather want to know how to help you out."
"Kiara: So eager to help but you still don't know me that well. Why is that?"
"Zarina: Does it require a good friendship for me to help you?"
"Kiara: That's... how I would like it to go."
"Zarina: Ohh, trust issues. Then, having a good relationship with you is something i'd like to have with you."
There was a long unusual pause before Zarina got a reply back.
"Kiara: Don't get me wrong. I meant 'being friends', not more than anything."
"Zarina: Well, actually, that's what I meant too! Don't tell me you're the one thinking of being more-than-friends with me?"
Zarina chuckled and Merlara took Zarina's phone. "Hey! Give that back! You can't just grab someone's phone like that!" She said, surprised. Merlara looked through the messages. "Flirting with the enemy? Way to go, Zarina." Merlara said sarcastically, rolling her eyes before tossing the phone and Zarina catches it after a short moment of struggle doing so.
"I just want to help!" Zarina said. "With a different kind of frustration?" Merlara blurted out. Matrius and Zarina stared at each other, surprised. "M-Merlara, what are you talking about?" Zarina raised her eyebrows, cheeks getting a little rosy while Matrius tries to look away this time. "Ugh! Forget it! Hurry up!" Merlara walked away in embarrassment.
For the last time, Zarina's phone buzzes twice.
"Kiara: No expectations, nightingale. Say, can you meet up with me tomorrow? Same place. Same time, if you like. I'll discuss matters with you: about how can you help me out."
"Kiara: Just the two of us. Also, take off the mask, will ya? If you really want to form a good 'friendship' with me, I have to know the face of who i'm talking to."
