"Okay, so you do know each other?" Akila asked again. "We do. He's a friend I just met through my best friend." Zarina said. "Akila, can I ride with you? I just have to talk to her privately about her friend before we go." Lexer said with urgency in his voice. Akila nodded.
Zarina led Lexer by the side where Akila still sees the two but not enough to hear what they are talking about. "What about Amaris? Is she okay?!" Zarina whispered. "She's not. She's captured by a Lycan. Ugh, screw Kiara! She's still as aggressive as she used to be!" Lexer said.
"K-Kiara? You mean-" "The new chief huntress of Lycans! She captured Amaris!" Lexer said, angrily. He ran his hands on his hair as he started to pace. "It's my fault. If only I didn't allow myself be knocked back by that witch! I tried stopping her and blocking her so that Amaris can escape but it's not enough! Kiara got stronger! But it's still my fault. It's still my-" Lexer snarled but Zarina held his shoulder to hold him on his place and look him in the eye.
"Where did she take her?" Zarina asked, her gaze is intense and cold. "To the Lycan territory: to the pack. She's probably locked there as the queen asks more of her about you. It was the queen who asked for her in the first place." Lexer reported. "No..." Zarina muttered. She felt her energy got drained.
"You? What can you do? Are you just going to stand here? Live here? Ignore her?" Lexer asked. "You know that I will do something to save her! It's just that... not now. I have so much to conside-" "Things that are more important than your best friend?! I am not sure but considering the queen's brutality, her life is at stake!" Lexer snarled.
"It's not like I can just run away from this world and forget and leave everything behind! I have a life here too!" Zarina snapped. "Then what?!" Lexer asked. Zarina felt the intense pressure upon her, glancing at Akila who looks like he's about to come towards them any time now to check on them. She sighed "Akila's waiting for you. I will figure it out but don't leave me alone in this one, Lexer. I know she's your friend too and we're certainly going to help her but we have to devise a plan. We will save her, I promise." Zarina said.
Lexer just sighed. They began walking towards Akila. "Let's go." Lexer said. "Everything okay?" Akila asked. "Yeah. Don't worry about it." Zarina plastered a smile. Akila nodded. They said their goodbyes once more before they parted ways.
Zarina felt distant to Kiara. She's not someone she can trust anymore. She worries about Amaris and hopes that she will not be too late to save her. She forced herself to sleep.
...
It's the week of the competition of the bands. Zarina met Aileen and Eris who are so open for her during the afternoon.
Zarina opened her phone to text Matrius.
"Zarina: Matt? How's everything with the king? Are you in the city now?"
"Matrius: He's more relaxed now, knowing that you're doing well. He can't wait for your arrival. And yes, i'm in the city now. Just so you know, there's no signal in our world, Zarina. Haha!"
"Zarina: That's news to me!"
"Matrius: What's up, by the way?"
"Zarina: I have to meet up with you and Merlara. This is urgent for me."
"Matrius: Knowing that we have to be involved in this, does that mean that the shifters are involved? Because if that's the case, let's meet this evening."
"Zarina: Thank you, Matt."
"Matrius: We're at your service, our queen."
"Zarina: Hey! Don't call me that. At least, not yet! There's still a king ruling over us!"
