{Emily's decision to put Michelle in the back row during evaluations for the group dance sends ripples through A-Troupe}

❝I guess, at the end of the day, my friends did have my back, even if they weren't who I was expecting.❞

A-Troupe is rehearsing in Studio A, preparing for the upcoming rehearsal for regionals. Kate and Chris walk in addressing the dancers, "Attention, dancers! Attention, please." Chris calls out.

"Some exciting news," Kate continues, "It looks like we are going to be competing at a local dance competition this weekend."

Hearing the news, the group breaks out into a cheer and applause, clearly excited about the fact the Next Step will be making an appearance locally.

"We're going to a small competition this weekend," Kate announces, "It's almost like a rehearsal for regionals."

Tiffany adds, "We get to scope out the competition of, like, the other studios around the area."

"It'll give us a chance to go out and get used to being on stage again." Eldon states.

"We're going to switch it up a bit, and I'm going to change the line positions." Ms Kate continues, "You'll perform for Chris and me and then I'll make the decision."

This sends a wave and shock and confusion, mainly over Emily and Stephanie's faces.

"I don't know what Kate is trying to pull right now," Emily says through gritted teeth, "but there is absolutely no way I'm letting her take this responsibility away from me. I am the dance captain."

Emily, Kate and Chris walk into the office, after Emily had asked to talk to them. Walking in, she begins to voice her concern, "The dance positions are usually made up by the Dance Captain and the Dance Captain is me, right?"

"It's true, Emily, but I just feel like there's a lot of tension in the air," Kate reasons, "and it's probably best if the positions come from Chris and me."

Emily stands before them with her arms crossed and nostrils flared as she says, "How are the dancers supposed to trust me, or even respect me if you keep taking away my responsibilities as Dance Captain?"

Chris looks to the camera, "Emily is Dance Captain, and I think it's up to me and Kate to just let her do what she needs to do."

"She knows what she's doing, and I know that at the end of the day she wants to win," Kate adds on.

"Okay, fine." Kate gives in, "You can set the dance positions."

"But remember our main objective." Chris cuts in.

Kate finishes his sentence, "And do what's best for the team."

Emily looks shocked as she responds, "Ms Kate, I always do what's best for my team." the girl smiles, innocently.
