[1X27]

I do not own any characters/plot from this show apart from my own!

{As the A-Troupe finally hits the road for Regionals, West tries to help out the Seeds when he learns that the street crew might not get to perform.}

❝Well, are you insecure... Or just obsessed with us? I mean, it has to be one of the two, since you went out of your way just to come and talk to us."❞

Maxie and James were sat in the backseat of James' mother's car as the woman chatted with Maxie's mum through the window. They had their suitcases and travel bags ready to go, for they were about to embark o  their journey to Regionals with the team.

"Mom, please, we're gonna be late," James complained, trying to end the mothers' meeting about the latest episode of KUWTK.

His mother whipped her head around and gave her son a stern glare, making the boy shrink back into himself as Maxie chuckled.

"Come on, mum, they'll leave without us," the girl tried, however, her complaints fell on deaf ears as the two women continued to chat.

The two dancers turned to each other and shared a look as they raised their eyebrows before slumping back into the car seats.

After what felt like hours to Maxie, her mother finally walked back to the window she was sat at and leaned in, "Okay, so I couldn't get the time off to come see you perform, but Deborah will be there and she'll tape it all for me."

"That I will," James's mother confirmed with the nod of her head.

"Alright? So, be good, dance well, and I'm sure you'll have the public's vote with your cute little face," she continued, pinching her daughter's cheeks as Max tried to swat her hands away, all while James ended up chuckling at the pair.

"Mum, it's not a public vote," Maxie grumbled out as her mother tried to kiss her, "The judges score us... eugh," she gagged just as her mother planted a kiss on her cheek, making the girl struggle in trying to wipe off the remaining lipstick.

"Whatever it is," the woman began, licking a dry tissue to help wipe the lipstick off, "I'm sure you'll at least come top ten."

Deborah turned back in the driver's seat to face her smirking son as she said, "Oh, don't think you're missing out on the fun, James," she told him, before pressing a wet kiss on his forehead which in turn made Maxie cackle.

Starting the engine, the three of them waved to Maxie's mother as they drove off towards the studio.

James turned to Maxie with a sly smile as he pointed to her cheek, "You've got a little, uh, something, like, right..."

"Here, yeah," she muttered, whacking him over the head lightly, "I didn't notice, thanks for that James."

From the front, Deborah turned spoke up, keeping her eyes on the road, "If you're having FOMO, James, I could always put some lipstick on your face, too," she told him, making Max burst into laughter.

"No, no, that's fine, mom," he muttered, shrinking back into his seat.

As the two of them made their way into the studio, twenty minutes later than everyone else, they were greeted by the smirks of Eldon and James.

"Well, well, well! Look who the cat dragged in!" Eldon jeered as the pair rolled their eyes at him.

West joined in by adding, "Look who decided to show up."
