{Michelle's challenges as the new Dance Captain include Emily and Stephanie's resentment and the possibility that James is leaving.}

❝Root canals at the dentist are more fun than math.❞

It was a new day in The Next Step, the first day of their new Dance Captain Michelle. A-Troupe were all in the studio, talking amongst themselves and preparing for the day ahead.

"Dancers," Chris began, as he and Kate walked into the room, "can I have your attention, please? Miss Kate has an announcement," he told them, turning to his co-leader.

She smiled at them, "Just wanted to let you know that our application for Regionals has been confirmed."

The group began cheering at the news, excited at the fact they're going to Regionals this year.

Daniel grinned, "I'm really, really glad that our Regionals application was confirmed."

"We're in," Riley exclaimed, "We're so much closer to Regionals."

"We just gotta keep on working to get there and I know will," West said.

Kate looked ecstatic as she spoke, "I have a feeling that this is going to be our year and we'll win."

Chris continued, "So, we know what that means. It's game time. So get your game face on."

"Regionals are in a month so we have a lot of work to do," Miss Kate told the group.

Sighing, Emily looked to the camera, "Clearly the Regionals application is something exciting for everyone, but it's a little dampened for me right now, I mean, I'm not Dance Captain. It's not my routine going to Regionals. 

"Get to work," and with that, the group dispensed off to learn Michelle's new routine.

Michelle herself, however, walked straight over to the former Dance Captain and her best friend in hopes of fixing broken bonds.

"Can I talk to you alone, please?" she asked her softly.

The girl looked confused as she responded, "Sure."

Stephanie hung around a bit, causing Michelle to look back at her, "I said alone. Thanks."

"I feel the need to be friends with Emily because it's really important that we work as a team and that she's a part of the team," she explains.

"I just wanted to make sure that we're okay."

"What do you mean okay?" Emily scoffed.

"We need to be friends to make this work."

"Friends? You're asking me to be your friend?"

"Well..."

"You went behind my back, took my friends, and stole my spot as Dance Captain. There's no chance we could be friends," Emily bluntly told her.

Michelle tried to find the right words to reply, "All I came over to tell you is that... I want you to help me out. We could be like co-captains."

"Why would I help her?" the girl grumbled, "She's Dance Captain, she needs to learn how to lead."
