Worn Out

The next day, we were allowed back to our common rooms. The portrait of the Fat Lady was replaced with Sir Cadogan. It's pathetic having him stand guard. He kept changing the password twice a day, and challenging people. I try to avoid him at all cost. I was in my room, braiding my auburn hair down the side for Quidditch practice. It's been raining almost every time that we've been out on the field. Just like tonight.

"Fae?"

I turned around to Angelina and Alicia. I haven't talked to them since that one night where I stayed with the boys. "Yeah?"

"I'm sorry if I made you mad the other night." The look in her eyes was genuinely sorry.

I took in a deep breath. "It's okay, Angelina. I just don't want you to get his feelings up, and you deny him."

She started to blush. "He likes me?"

Someone knocked on the door.

"Come in!" Alicia said.

The door opened, revealing Hermione. "The boys are all downstairs, waiting for you."

"Okay, we're coming." I wrapped the elastic around my hair. "Ready to get this practice over with?" the girls nodded their heads. "Then lets go." I walked down the steps.

"It's about time, girls. We'll need to work harder and longer." Wood slightly scolded. "Come on, let's just get this over with."

He started towards the portrait hole, and I jumped on Fred's back. "What's wrong with Wood?"

"Do I have to carry you?"

"You didn't answer my question."

"What isn't there wrong with Wood?" George said, falling in step beside us. "He's determined to win this year."

"I think it's getting to his head."

"Oh, definitely." Fred agreed. "If we lost, I think he'll become like Black."

"No, I don't think he'll go that far."

"I can hear you three." Oliver said from the front.

"Oh, sh..." I buried my burning red face into Fred's shoulder.

We arrived at the stadium. We grabbed our brooms from the changing room.

"Okay, Fred, George and Fae, you three do laps." Wood instructed.

"What? What?" I asked.

"For doubting my plan to win this year."

"Don't you know a joke when you hear one?" George said.

"Twenty laps, now."

I groaned. "Yes, your highness." I swung my leg over my broom, and pushed off from the ground. The cold wind whipped across my face. My eyes started to burn, and the rain was making it difficult to see. The boys can be heard behind me joking around and laughing. I just wanted to get these laps over with.

"Hey, Fae!"

I looked to my left and saw Alicia throw the quaffle at me. I easily caught it, and started to swerve back and forth, pretending to actually play against Slytherin. I threw the Quaffle threw the hoop. Oh yeah. We got this.

"Everyone, get down here!" Wood called from the ground.

I lowered myself, but stayed mounted on my broom.

"We're not playing Slytherin!" He said angrily. He has got to be joking. "Flint's just been to see me. We're playing Hufflepuff instead."

"Why?" The whole team asked.
